This month my Chase Continental Onepass Plus card is up for its yearly renewal. Basically, that means they mail you two President’s Club passes, a pretty much useless travel discount certificate, and charge you an $85.00 annual fee. I love this card and use if for alot of my daily spending, but it still isn’t fun paying annual fees no matter how much you love the card. So, I wrote them via their online secure message center and inquired to see if they offered any type of “good customer” mileage retention bonus. At first they said “no, we cannot waive the annual fee”. I wrote back (super nicely) explaining that isn’t what I was requesting – I was more interested in a retention mileage bonus. A few hours later……voila, they agreed to give me 2,500 miles for being a loyal customer! Cha-ching!! I invested maybe 10 minutes in the whole exchange and was rewarded with 2,500 beautiful free miles. So, if your credit card is up for annual fee renewal time, can’t hurt to ask – very nicely, of course!
Even Little C was clapping for joy!
