I applied for the Chase Sapphire 50K point bonus offer today.  I was told I will hear the results in 7-10 days.  I am betting it will work out in the end, but I would have MUCH preferred an instant approval!

Here are the reasons why I am really hoping for this (and future) approvals and subsequent sign-up bonuses……..

I currently have 102,000 Membership Rewards points (most from a 100K sign-up bonus), 5,000 Chase Rewards points, and 3,500 Onepass miles.  Through “normal spending” and expected bonuses on existing cards I have about another 30K in various points coming between now and the end of the year.  If I get the 50K points for the Sapphire card, that will put me at an approximately 190,000 points/miles by the end of the year.  I plan to turn most of these into Continental Onepass miles for flights for The Man, Little C, and myself.

We hope to use these to get to Kansas this summer (Hoping for a Continental weekend special @ 139.00 + tax each * 3 tickets = about $460 dollars = 36,800 AMEX Membership Rewards Points) , get the Kansas grandparents some tickets for Christmas to come see their awesome granddaughter (20K Onepass miles each * 2 tickets = 40K miles), go to Las Vegas next spring (25K per ticket * 3 tickets = 75K miles), and upstate NY next summer (25K per ticket * 3 tickets = 75K miles).  The grand total for miles for those trips is about 226,800 miles/points.  So, we still need to earn about 36,800 miles more than what we already have projected to do all of those trips on miles.

If Chase and these other lovely credit card companies will approve me for the Chase Sapphire plus just one more card with a decent bonus between now and the end of the year, all of those trips will be within our reach (for free!!).  As a mommy, I don’t play the “points game” for fun……although it sometimes is.  I do it because we have family around the country that Little C needs to see, and we don’t have the disposable income to fly to all of the places we want/need to without some points help.  That is the exact reason why I hope other mommies can learn some of the things we have done…… to allow their little ones to connect with their families and the world!
