Good Entry Level Article on Credit Card Rewards

About a week or so ago I spoke to a woman who was working on an article for creditcards.com about how to maximize your credit card’s rewards program.  I was excited to talk to her and spread the word about how to help your family travel almost for free.  The article is now up here, and while for most of you there is not really much new information in the article, it could be a good link to share with friends or family members that are newer to the miles and points game.  Maybe it can help “whet their appetite” for making the most of purchases they were going to make anyway.  The points game is much easier if your spouse/partner is on board, so if you think reading a clear and concise article outlining some easy ways to rack-up points might help get them on “your team”, then go for it!

In the article, you will find good info from several of my favorite points bloggers including: Gary@ View From the Wing, Darius @ Million Mile Secrets, Rick @Frugal Travel Guy, and Gary @ Free Frequent Flyer Miles.  I spoke mostly with the writer about #6, Using Shopping Portals, but you will find my name absent from the article (and this blog for that matter).  This is mainly because of Little C and the amount of info I share about her and our family’s travel plans – I am just not willing to put my full name out there publicly and increase the chance of anything at all negative coming to her as a result.  Nonetheless, the article is still a great starting place for someone looking to get some basic info about racking up valuable credit card rewards!

  1. it is “whet” not “wet” – sorry im a dork about theae things 🙂 whet as in sharpen….

always good to intro people to the wonderful world of free gifts from credit card companies!!!

  2. You are absolutely correct to protect your daughter and her identity. I had to remove photos of my daughter months ago due to the nature of the crude comments received.

We’ll see if the problem resurfaces again without new banner. This is only miles and points. nowhere near as precious as your own flesh and blood. Nice move

    • @Rick, thanks so much for your support in keeping C’s (and by default my own) name from being prominently advertised. When I started this blog I never imagined that would ever be an issue, but I was wrong. 🙂 So sorry to hear about the crude comments about your daughter. I hope that they don’t resurface. For the record, I love your new banner! I agree totally that while points and miles are great, they pale in comparison to our own flesh and blood. Thanks again.
