While it has been known that United MileagePlus was a soon-to-be Ultimate Rewards transfer partner, it looks like you can now begin transferring your UR points to United!  When I logged into my Chase Sapphire’s Ultimate Rewards program today, I was greeted with this happy announcement.

It is great news that when Continental and United finalize their merger in a couple months, we will still be able to transfer points in without a problem.  Since I am a Continental girl myself, I see this as an enormous plus for Chase and their Ultimate Rewards program.

Transferring points to miles using Ultimate Rewards is very simple using the tool I have pictured above and my transfers have always posted just about instantly.  Since I currently have very few UR points in my account (though I am working on building it back up), I didn’t do a test transfer today, but it certainly seems operational!  In case you are not familiar with all of the transfer partners that Ultimate Rewards has, here is a quick list: Amtrak, British Airways, Continental Airlines, Korean Airlines, Hyatt, Priority Club, and Marriott.  While Korean Airlines may sound a bit random, it is very important as it rounds out representation from the three major airline alliances.  If you want more info on how to redeem Korean Airline miles for Skyteam rewards, check out this post from The Points Guy.

Ultimate Rewards now has partners in Star Alliance (Continental and United), Oneworld (British Airways), and Skyteam (Korean Airlines).  The addition of United means that they should be set to continue with options in all alliances heading into the future.  That makes UR a top notch option for building and using flexible points for travel.

So there you have it, all three major alliances are represented and you can now start transferring your points to United!

You may not have the availability to transfer them but they go 1:1 to United. 1. So the rumors are finally fact!!! Yeah! I think I’ll be keeping this card with the flexibility is offers. Not to mention I just order a cash back check of $1,000 from my 100K Chase Sapphire sign up. I’m going to use this cash to pay for train travel in Europe for our family. But first I’m going to put it into a Chase Thank You points checking account and get a few points to help with something else.

  2. @Rachel, you are very welcome

@Jim, ha ha. I just happened to be checking on some UR transactions this morning and saw it. 🙂

@CU, congrats on your new Sapphire card!

@Faith, I think I will be keeping this card as well. It is great to have flexible options with our points.

@JAmes, ha ha. So true! It would be even better if UR would run some transfer bonuses like MR does!

  3. I tried to transfer from my Chase Ultimate Rewards to MileagePlus but could not find how to transfer. Should I start from Chase Ultimate Rewards account or from MileagePlus account? Can you tell me more details and web link? Thanks.

    • @Tony, log into your Ultimate Rewards account and select “Transfer Points” from the blue bar of options at the top. Then select United MileagePlus. It will ask you for the name, MileagePlus number, and number of miles you wish to transfer. Let me know if you still have questions!

  4. Very upset that my Platinum Elite status with Continental has been down graded to Gold Premier with United as result of the merger. I fly 2-4 times a week, 45+ weeks a year. United will not explain the reason for this.

  5. Since you can transfer UR points to United, do they ever offer transfer bonuses? Ive got my UR account going and looking for ways to maximize my United miles.

  6. Hello everyone, I have a chase ink card with a lot or rewards, I am trying to transfer some points to Mileage plus but I do not see the option to do so in the UR website. Please help, I want to transfer some points ASAP. Thanks in advance!
