10/26 Update: The launch party folks are now booking their seats, so it is less than 24 hours for the rest of us! Hotel rates are also now included below, but they are reported to be $149 per night for Dallas and Bellevue and $194 for LA!
After a few booking delays due to working out legal terms and conditions details, the First OneWorld MegaDO, that I have been talking about for weeks, will officially be open for public booking on Thursday 10.27.11 @ 10AM CST! Get your credit cards ready, because this is going to be a hot ticket! You get to choose your own seat at the time of booking, so you really want to be ready to go if you have a seating preference. According to the info that Randy Peterson posted on the official OWMD blog, they will still be working out some final details into the night, but those who attended the launch party in LA should be able to book their seats tomorrow, followed by the rest of us on Thursday morning.
I love this picture of Randy Peterson and crew that was posted on Megado.com during some of the “legal delays”. I think the booking delays were intentional to go ahead and condition DO attendees ahead of time to some of the last-minute changes and “hurry up and wait” situations that are inevitable when you are traveling around the world with 150+ people. Actually a very smart tactical approach on their part. 🙂
If you are on the fence about whether or not to attend the DO, the countdown is on for you to make your decision. My decision is 100% yes! While the final pricing should be ready when the launch party folks start their bookings tomorrow, the prices for the North American charter portion will be in the range of:
Tommy Class/Premium Economy: $1200ish
First Class: $1600ish
That amount covers your seat on the charter, as well as admission to the North American events. These are events that are so cool you usually couldn’t even buy your way into them. Also, if it is anything like the last DO, those events come with virtually all the food and drinks you could ever want….and more. The links to book the Hyatt hotels in Dallas, Bellevue, and LA will also be available on Thursday at specially negotiated rates. Rumor has it those rates are $149 a night at the Dallas and Bellevue locations and $194 a night at the LA location. There should also be booking information available for those who are interested in the European option. The hotels for that part may not be 100% ready to book quite yet, but there should be some information available.
As a reminder about where this
party DO is headed, check out the itinerary:
1/23/12 The party starts in New York City
There will be presentations and tours with OneWorld carriers, then the entire premium cabin on a flight from JFK – LHR (London) is reserved for OneWorld participants! It’s a rough life…..
1/24/12 The party continues in London
There will be a program with British Airways and a reception.
1/25/12 The action returns to the US of A with a flight from LHR – DFW (Dallas)
There will be a reception put on by Hyatt at the Hyatt Regency DFW in my great home state of Texas. I am super jazzed about this destination selection as my husband should be able drive up and join in the after-party action!
1/26/12 Spend the day behind the scenes with American Airlines then fly on a chartered 757 to Seattle
The flight will land at Boeing Field, and that evening there will be a dinner hosted by Boeing. Woohoo! The night will be spent at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
1/27/12 More fun at Boeing and the chartered flight continues on to LAX
This day at Boeing promises to include portions not open to the public and never included in a previous DO. Yippee. Dinner in LA will be hosted by OneWorld carriers. You never seem to go hungry (or thirsty) on DOs! This night will be spent at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
1/28/12 OneWorld program at LAX
You can get more detailed schedule information from the official site (which is also where you will book your seat on Thursday). There will be special status match/challenges in store from both American Airlines and Hyatt Hotels. The details surrounding those challenges should be clear in the very near future as well.
I’m ready, are you coming with me??
