My favorite holiday memory is of my uncle, who sadly is no longer with us, dressing up as Santa and distributing gifts to all of us on Christmas morning.

My wife and I love to travel, but what we love more is to be able to getaway for a romantic weekend every so often. This would enable us to do just that. We would look forward to just being with each other at this wonderful Spg hotel.

The drawing was done using a random number generator, and out of the 156 comments, of which 150 were actual entries, Chirag’s comment at number 13 was selected.

Chirag, congratulations to you and your wife.  I hope that you will be able to enjoy this wonderful Westin location as much as The Man and I did for our anniversary stay a few months ago.  The other great news is that Toys for Tots will be receiving an even $300 as a result of the 150 entries in this contest.  This should make some kiddos very happy this holiday season.  Many thanks to The Westin La Cantera for sponsoring this contest, and for graciously matching the $150 that the Mommy Points community generated through comments.

I also want to give a quick shout-out to Mommy Points reader, Dan.  Here are portions of the inspiring story he sent in.

I’ve been donating toys for 20 years, which is what I told my kids when they were little. When my children were younger, I took them along to the shelter, to expose them to kids that don’t have toys. My father had a heart attack when I was 7. I knew what it was like not to have toys. I knew how important it is to those children to get a new toy. I also knew how much they’d appreciate it, and play with their new toy. I played with my lone toy to death, so to speak.
I donate toys locally and meet my goal of getting toys into the hands of kids that really need them.  I’ll still be making a multiple box donation of new toys to my local homeless shelter, and would suggest that your readers do the same. If you could see the smiles and those young faces… it would make everything worthwhile!!
I couldn’t agree more!  Personally, I actually got into Holiday toy donation the Christmas after my Grandpa died – he was our family’s “Santa Claus”.  I was 12 and remember all of the cousins shopping together at Toys ‘R Us to donate presents to the Salvation Army in his name.  The tradition stuck and I have continued to do something similar every year.  I am looking forward to passing that tradition on to my daughter as well.  It really is always better to give than to receive.  🙂
Congrats again to chirag (I’ll put you in touch with The Westin La Cantera so you can get your prize!), and thank you to each of you, as well, for your loyal readership and your commitment to helping this great cause.
