Anyone else a little bit tired from staying up late last night to register for the 50,000 Gold Point bonus??  It seems that they have not yet reached the 50,000 registrations, but I’m still glad I stayed up – better safe than sorry with these sorts of things!  I do have a few updates that I obtained by calling Club Carlson at 1-888-288-8889 that I wanted to pass along.  The representative I spoke with sounded pretty knowledgeable, but keep in mind this info is not an official statement from Club Carlson, just info obtained from talking to one representative.

  • As of around 9AM CST they had not yet hit the 50,000 registrants, so it is not too late to register if you haven’t already (or to register more family members)!
  • They are not currently planning on sending out confirmation emails.  Which I seriously wish they would reconsider!
  • If the first paragraph (shown below) mentioned 50,000 points then you are registered for that offer.  After the first 50,000 registrants, it will show that you will receive 15,000 points upon your stay at a Radisson or Radisoon Blu hotel.

  • Club Carlson does status match to some other hotel programs, so if you are an elite member of another hotel program you can see about obtaining a status match from Club Carlson.  That way you can enjoy some perks while completing your Radisson stays!  They told me that my Hyatt Diamond status would match to their Gold Elite Status.  They may not match to Intercontinental (based on this FT thread), but I don’t have an official comprehensive list right now.  However, this Flyertalk thread indicates they will match from Hyatt, Marriott, Priority Club, Hilton, and Starwood.
  • You can email a screen shot of your status with another hotel to goldpointsplus@carlson.com or fax a hotel program statement to 1-402-501-9166.  Make sure to include your Club Carlson number.

Here is a summary of the Club Carlson elite benefits:

  • Roll Over Nights (unused elite-qualifying nights count again next year toward elite status)

All in all, I am glad their website didn’t crash, but I wish they would have provided some sort of tangible confirmation of your registration for the 50K offer.  How did registration go for you?

Pingbacks

  1. […] Probably so, just email them at goldpointsplus@carlson.com.  You will need to provide a screen shot of your current elite status.  In the past, I have heard them match Hyatt, Marriott, Priority Club, Hilton, and Starwood.  You can learn more about the status match process or the elite benefits on this post I did back in November.  […]

  1. I am a bit irritated that there was no confirmation showing i will get my 50K points with my club number or my name in the same space.

but when i tried to reregister with my email (i registered with my club number) it said I was already registered. so I have to trust the system that it knows who is registered and who is not 🙂

    • @Drymartini, I am with you. I think it would be better for all involved if they would send a confirmation email or something similar. We are not the most trusting type of group with promos like this. 🙂

    • @Larry, hopefully they will status match all of those programs! I had read some info FT that made me nervous about some programs and the woman I spoke with said that they match some and not others. Thanks for sharing the info!

  2. This is welcoming news that if the screen mentioned 50k points, then you are in. I guess its time to book rooms. Thank you for posting and keeping us informed.

  3. Got two, one for me, one for my wife. Booked 2 $59 rooms at the local RTP Radisson for December. Now I’ll see about that status match. Thanks, MP!

  4. I’m not sure if others experienced this or not but as the counter clicked down it stopped at 00:00:00 one hour before midnight so I thought the site was hosed but at midnight it changed to the registration page and all was good. I took a screen shot of the regisration also. Now I need to go to Mypoints then link to Radisson and book a room with a mile earning credit card to make it a triple dip stay. Mypoints, Ultimate Rewards and Club Carlson points in one stay (they also give 2000 bonus points for Gold members for booking online).

  5. I got in, at least I think I did given the no email confirmation. I am with you, we aren’t the most trusting bunch when it comes to promotions like this and I neglected to get a screen shot (come on noob!) even if it was a generic splash screen.

  6. Am very tired after setting my alarm to wake up to register, but success! Thanks for the matching info – will fax in my Hilton info.

  7. I registered just after midnight and it said i was registered. I registered again this morning but only using my Club Carlson number and not my email like i did before and it never said I was already registered. I called Club Carlson around 8:20 A.M PST and had him check. He said he can’t find anything and registered me on the phone. Maybe that is a safe way to go…Talk to CS

  8. Thanks for letting us know that they hadn’t used all the 50K slots by 9am CST. I registered around 5am CST and had no problems. Now I just need to find a good rate at a Radission.

  9. My concern is the ‘qualifying rate’ theirs Is a Club Carlson rate that is higher.
Does it need to be that one or will the low cost prepay AAA rate work and earn the 50000.

    Mike

    • @Benny, your paid stay does need to be a Radisson or Radisoon Blu. Your “free night” can be used at any Club Carlson hotel. Thanks for the list!

    • @gpapadop, I love the idea of a list of low-cost Radissons, but I think Deals We Like is the one heading up that list. 🙂

  10. @Mommypoints: I am not seeing a list of cheap Radisson hotels at Deals we Like…but it may be way too soon. It was fun registering with you and others for the Radisson promo at midnight, I guess we could have gotten some more sleep and still register all day the next day;-)

    • @gpapadop, I don’t know what the time-frame was on creating it, but I am pretty sure that was the site that was going to do it. Though, I am also happy to do it in the event that it doesn’t get posted anywhere else. It wouldn’t have been near as fun if we all just booked the next day! 😉

  11. I registered for this. I just checked to see what category the hotel that I was planning to stay at in a few weeks to earn the points is not listed in any category! I wonder what that means?!

  12. After I read your post about the status match yesterday. I shot them an email with a screenshot of my Marriott Plat. I just got an email from Club Carlson indicating my account was upgraded to Gold! That was easy. Thanks Carlson, and mommy! Now I need find a Radisson to stay. The last stay at Radisson was three years ago.

    • That is a good deal, but sadly not stackable with the 50k promo since you have to earn gold points not airline miles for that one. Thanks for sharing though!

  13. You are right MP, it clearly states ‘Gold Points® may not be earned for Eligible Stays under this Promotion.’ No triple miles for this stay, sorry about that!

  14. To share with you, I just got an email to confirm my participating in the Radisson Big Night Giveaway as below:

This is to confirm you were one of the first 50,000 registrants and are now eligible to earn 50,000 Gold Points®.

Remember to make your booking and stay at any Radisson or Radisson Blu hotel in the U.S., Canada or Caribbean by December 30, 2011 to qualify for your bonus Gold Points.

  15. I just received a confirmation email from Radisson saying that I was one of the first 50,000 registrants. I’m glad that they’re finally sending these emails out!

  16. I also got confirm that I’m in the 1st 50K. I registered at 2PM CDT. What at the points worth? It will cost me about $80 to get a room and not use it.. I’m traveling at Thanksgiving but staying with Family. Being single I could take a night off in Orange County CA, I suppose.

  17. Got my email confirmation and am now trying to make sure I get a qualifying rate. I need to stay at a hotel on Dec 25th to fly on Dec 26th so I am looking at the Radisson Hotel & Suites Fallsview in Niagra falls. There is a 10% discount for the Winter Festival of Lights but I can’t see anywhere on the rate details if this is a Carlson Gold qualifying stay.

  18. I know it’s probably not worth it (points-wise) to use 23k AA points to net 27k CC points…but thought it’d be a nice xmas gift to take my girlfriend to see the Christmas tree in Rockefellar plaza and then stay at the Radisson on Lexington…so hoping for a 2 birds/one stone situation 🙂

  19. Received the following response from a Radisson CSR:

“If you pay with just points that stay would not count. Points plus cash
    rate would though.”

Thanks again to Mommy Points for this deal.

  20. Is it “legal” in the eyes of this promotion to book a night and then not show up? I know the hotel will still charge me as though I stayed there, but how could I make sure that my failure to show isn’t held against me? I’d hate to pay the money for a hotel night only to discover later that my non-stay didn’t qualify me for the promotion.

  21. Did I ask The Question That Shall Not Be Answered? Has anyone tested the waters with these types of promotions to see whether an actual stay or merely payment for a room is required? I appreciate any help you can lend.

  22. @Chris, the official answer is that Club Carlson does not award points for no-shows. The unofficial answer is that I am sure it is happening. You would need to work something out with the hotel manager ahead of time, but I know for sure some people have done it. It is outside the terms and conditions of the promotion, so proceed with caution. 🙂

  23. I just received this 50k bonus a few days after my “stay”, the 1k online booking, 2k first stay bonus, 1k TGI Friday bonus (will have to see if I can get bump to the new 4500 bonus).

Interesting that the staff at the Radisson (east dallas) notice I was checking out a few minutes after I checked in and said I should wait till the next day to checkout just to make sure I receive the stay credit. He went on to tell me that there are lots of people doing the promo. Other people didn’t have to come in at all, this location will honor check-in/out over the phone!

  24. This was an AWESOME promo and why I voted for Club Carlson at the Freddie’s. Combined with their redemption “spend points, get points”, I paid for 1 night at a lovely Radisson for $100 on my birthday, and got 50k points, plus 3 free hotel nights with my sisters and mom over the holidays!

  25. Hello,
I am thinking about emailing Club Carlson and asking them to match my Elite Status. But I don’t know how I should address it. Will they match my Accor Hotels (such as Novotel, Ibis) (Le Club) Platinum Status, i.e. should I email them once and try to get matched for this, before trying to get them to match my Hilton and Priority Club Gold Status levels? Any help on this I would really appreciate!!
