For those who have never done it, let me break the suspense and tell you that hosting Thanksgiving when you have a toddler is a bit of a challenge. I thought it was hard last year with an infant. It was much harder this year with a little one who is in to EVERYTHING, but yet still has to be watched like a hawk 24/7. It is safe to say that just trying to pull off the logistics is enough to make the day kind of whiz right by you. It was so great to see family, but boy it wasn’t easy pulling it all off (and this was with copious amounts of help – can’t imagine doing it alone).
So that the day doesn’t whiz by completely without me taking a minute to pause and reflect, I wanted to make a moment to just share some thanks with all of you. My little family has so much to be thankful for this year. Of course, this site and all of you are on our list of things we are thankful for. It has been quite an amazing six months having Mommy Points be a part of our lives, and I am grateful for every minute. I only hope that I can return a portion of what you all have given to us. We started a little site not ever knowing if anyone would ever see it other than us, and now there is an awesome community of travelers who are helping each other travel more often, farther, smarter, and cheaper than every before. For that we are thankful.
Here is a peak into our day of thanks (see if you can spot a great Grand Slam purchase!). I love the universality of Thanksgiving. Some families have unique traditions, but for most of us Thanksgiving looks about the same no matter which house you go into. Having family together was the point today. Deal and point hunting will be the point later on tonight once Little C goes into “Turkey Dream Land”! If you want tips on how to maximize miles and points earning while taking advantage of great deals this week, check out this post.
After lunch I looked outside the window to see the all-American tradition of post-Thanksgiving football getting started. Cutest of all was Little C getting in on the action.
Hope that you and yours had a great day wherever your travels may have taken you.
