I wrote about the awesome Passports with Purpose fundraiser/online raffle a few weeks ago. Essentially, several other travel bloggers and myself have joined together to support Passports with Purpose in their quest to raise $80,000 that will go towards building two libraries in Zambia (with the help of the Room to Read organization). Every year Passports with Purpose selects a different cause to raise money for, and this year it is to help children in Zambia have books to read. As the mom of a toddler who is book-obsessed, that is a cause that I am fully on-board with. I don’t think books are just for entertainment, they are a key to learning, growing, and experiencing a world that extends beyond your four walls.
Here is C with her Kansas Grandpa on our last visit. Books are a staple for her whether we are home or on the road.
Best Western was kind enough to be my prize sponsor this year. They donated a $100 gift card that can potentially be won with only a $10 donation! My friends Deals We Like, Loyalty Traveler, Points, Miles, and Martinis, and Million Mile Secrets are also participating in this effort, so be sure to check out their posts and prizes as well!
In fact, there are well over 100 travel bloggers who are participating. That means well over 100 travel related prizes that you can enter to win. All you have to do to enter is select the prize you wish to win, and donate $10 for each entry that goes towards that prize. I have my hat in the ring for 110,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points, a two-night stay at the Hyatt Lost Pines (because I love that place!), a four-night stay at a suite in Maui, and a few other prizes as well. The good news is that even if you don’t win, you are still helping a great cause. If you want to have the best odds of winning a prize, Passports with a Purpose has published a list of prizes that currently have the “best odds” (aka fewest number of entries). Shocking that the Hyatt points aren’t on that list?!
So far $50,000 of the $80,000 goal has been raised. That is a lot of cash, but clearly there still is a long way to go in just over 24 hours. Even if you can just donate $10, that would be much appreciated. Let’s help this great group meet their goal and get some books in the hands of some kiddos!
Donate/enter to win here. Good luck – I would love to hear if you win one of these awesome prizes!
