CONTEST NOW CLOSED. Look for a winner to be announced tonight 2/4! Thanks so much to everyone that entered. Reading all of your entries made me feel so fortunate that I was able to attend a MegaDO, and I very much hope to see many of you on a future trip.
Just wanted to give a quick reminder that tonight 2/3/12 at 11:59PM Central is the deadline to get your entry in to win my OneWorld MegaDO Swag! There is a ton of fun stuff in the swag bag, including an official MegaDO t-shirt and an American Airlines Admiral’s Club pass that expires on 4/30/12. It also gives $100 off your annual membership if you decide to join the club.
If you want to win the MegaDO bag ‘o swag, go to this post today to enter.
Also, I couldn’t write a post related to the MegaDO without including a couple more photos from the trip. Here is a shot of my “VIP suite” at the Hyatt Regency DFW when we arrived.
Here it is a few hours later when we gave an open invitation for anyone who wanted to come and have a few drinks in our suite. What good is a suite if you don’t invite your friends? Oh, and yes we did indeed check an entire bag of “liquids” and red plastic cups for this occasion. 😉 My husband came to Dallas with me for the first night of the trip, so this was a fun and easy way for him to get a chance to meet some of the fellow
crazy people travel enthusiasts that were on the trip. He had a blast!
I thought it was great that on this MegaDO suites were auctioned off at the Hyatt hotels in Dallas, Bellevue, and Los Angeles on MilePoint, and the proceeds went to the Hyatt’s charity of choice, the “Hands On Education” program.
Hands On Education Services is a unique state-funded organization designed to prepare people with disabilities for employment in the hospitality industry through job readiness and training programs. Hands On Education focuses on young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities that affect their ability to attend traditional training programs at local community colleges or vocational/technical schools. The goal of Hands On Education is to prepare individuals for work and assist them, as needed, so that they can maintain long-term employment in inclusive and diverse environments.
It was a win-win for everyone. We got to try out some truly impressive suites with other MegaDoers, and a great organization got some additional funding. I was also able to snap a quick photo of the Kemper Suite that my friend wijomas won at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. There was also a gathering in that suite as well, but I was too tired to stay very long for those festivities. Sleep is a precious commodity on these trips!
I hope these suite auctions are a new MegaDO tradition! I plan to include more info about the VIP suite at the Hyatt Regency DFW when I write-up my review of that hotel in the near future.
Remember to go enter to win the MegaSwag!
