Rumor Confirmed: Q3 Hilton Promo is Triple Points (at least on the weekends)!

Earlier this week I posted about a rumor that the Q3 hotel promo for Hilton would involve triple HHonors points.  I have found that type of rumor on Flyertalk to often be true (especially when the original poster has been right before), and it looks like this rumor proved to be true as well – or at least partly true.  As The Wandering Aramean posted this morning, Hilton has been sending emails out to some HHonors members (though they apparently lost my address) giving them a preview of the upcoming third quarter promotion.  The email said:

Being a Hilton HHonors™ member is now more rewarding than ever. Because with this sneak peek at the Triple Your Trip promotion, you can get to your next getaway three times faster. Simply sign up and stay by September 30, 2012, to earn Triple HHonors Points for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights starting July 1, 2012. And earn Double HHonors Points for Monday through Thursday nights at participating hotels and resorts. Take advantage of this special preview today. Because whether you’re earning double points on business or triple points on a weekend away, you can always count on HHonors to get you to your next getaway faster.

As is common with Hilton, here are a fair number of properties who are not participating in this promotion, so be sure to check that list before making reservations.  Triple points is pretty good – especially since with the Starwood “Nice Choice” promo you have to stay 15 nights to be able to select triple points (though SPG doesn’t have the mile-long hotel “opt out” list for their current promo).  Of course, I value triple SPG points more than triple Hilton HHonors points, but 3x is 3x.  😉

I’m glad to hear the rumor had some truth to it, but only awarding triple points over the weekend does mean that many business travelers won’t get any better value out of this promotion than they did out of the Q2 promotion where members could choose from double HHonors points or double airline miles.  The FAQs developed for this promo are pretty helpful in describing various scenarios where part of the stay is over the weekend while part of the stay is during the week.

This offer does require registration.  I currently have very few HHonors stays, so this promo doesn’t really impact me one way or the other, but for those of you who are Hilton regulars, what do you think of the Q3 promotion?

  1. Awesome! Already had a trip booked Singer island in July. 7 nights 8 days! Yippee!
I have tried to find in older post but I am having trouble. When you book two rooms at Hilton what do I need to request to get all of the points. Do I have to tell them to move all charges on one bill? Help!

  2. It would be a nice promotion if more of the Hiltons participated. But, unfortunately, practically all of the Hiltons in my area are not participating. It seems like the non-participating Hiltons grow longer with every new promotion.

  3. I have already planned my September vacation to the States and have booked my hotel stays.
Usually, I stay more at budget properties like Quality Inn, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, etc.
However, I have booked three one-night stays at HHonors hotels. Unfortunately, the first one is on the opt-out list. But the other two will earn me triple points (Sunday and Friday nights). That’s what I like 😉
I also have one night at a Sheraton, so I’ll earn 500 points with the Nice Choice promotion.
Not THAT much, but pretty good for a guy doing only leisure and no business travel … and watching costs.

  4. YOU ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION- ASK THEM TO PUT ALL CHARGES ON ONE FOLIO. FOLIO WAS THEIR WORD FOR IT.
AND DON’T LEAVE HOTEL WITHOUT DOING THIS AND HAVING BILL IN HAND.
ONCE TRIED TO FIX ON PHONE AND TOOK FOREVER.

  5. @Jim, I am relatively new to the points game and started this past October. I have read so many posts and I knew there was something I needed to do but could not quite remember or find the post. Once again mommypoints, thank you for all of your help and guidance! Shout out to million mile secrets as well! Without the both of you I would be still collecting just enough points to get one ticket every couple of years. Can’t even imagine that anymore!

  6. I’m a regular business traveler for Hilton and look forward to what the “next” promotion is going to be for Hilton. I was in fact disappointed that absolutely nothing will change for the people who give them the most business. Technically they are saying they value weekend travelers more than their business people who bring in 3 times the amount of money for them every year. Very disappointed….hopefully q4 will be better. Usually is.

  7. Very disappointed that some of my stays are not participating. DBL Tree in Spokane, Embassy Suites in New Orleans.
I’m a regular business traveler that constantly are on the diamond list, it would’ve been nice to accrue extra points for free stays.
    YMMV!!
