Update: The contest has ended – winners to be announced soon!

I have been a big fan of the Club Carlson Visa ever since it came out last year. In fact the Club Carlson loyalty program itself has been a rising star in the miles and points world since it ran the “stay one get one” promo last year where you received 50,000 points after just a one night stay. Since then I have personally redeemed Club Carlson points in two of their very nice European properties – The May Fair in London and the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Dublin. I also got their new credit card during my last credit card applications.

So, when they asked if I would be interested in hosting a huge giveaway to promote their new credit card, I was happy to do so. It is a great card that I personally have myself, and the giveaway prizes are awesome as well.

Club Carlson is giving away a $500 Club Carlson gift card on this site to two separate winners! In addition, each winner will be given one year of Club Carlson Gold status. If the winners happen to already have Gold status (which you get just by having their co-branded credit card), then they are provided one year of top-tier elite Concierge status. Concierge status normally requires 75 nights or 30 stays in a calendar year, so that is pretty awesome to include with the gift card.

There are two different ways to enter this contest (and you can enter once each way):
  • Leave a comment on this post stating which Club Carlson Visa credit card benefit you are most excited about, and
  • Tweet me @mommy_points stating which Club Carlson Visa credit card benefit you are most excited about – be sure to include both the @mommy_points and the hashtag #MPgiveaway in your tweet to me

To help you out, here are some of the benefits of the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature:

  • Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!
  • 10 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Carlson Rezidor hotels worldwide and five points per dollar everywhere else Visa is accepted
  • Up to 85,000 Bonus Gold Points to start. Receive 50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase, plus 35,000 points after you spend $2,500 on your card within the first 90 days
  • 40,000 bonus points each year after you renew your card and pay the $75 annual fee
  • Automatic Gold Elite Status once the card is used. Existing Gold Elite members receive 15 qualifying nights toward Concierge Elite Status

If you want a more in-depth look at the different Club Carlson cards and their benefits, then head to this post. Entries for the giveaway accepted until Friday March 22nd at 11:59 PM Central with the randomly selected winners to be announced shortly thereafter. You must be at least 18 years old to enter. Void where prohibited by law. U.S. Bank and Carlson Inc. is not liable for any part of this contest. In case you are super curious, I was not compensated for running this contest and the Club Carlson credit card is not one of my affiliate links. I just think the card rocks and these prizes are great.

Good luck!

Disclosure: I do receive a commission if you are approved for a credit card using one of my affiliate links.  As always, your support is very much appreciated!

  1. In my opinion, the bonus award nights feature is the best perk of any hotel loyalty program for non elite members.

  2. the bonus night is THE reason I picked up this card for myself. That’s a HUGE value add. If used correctly, my 200k CC points will be worth 400k!

  3. Hi:
This is not a card I have yet but it will be on my list after I spend my minimums to receive my bonus points on two cc’s I was just approved for. It sounds like it has some wonderful perks! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I think the bonus award night is the best benefit and makes the Club Carlson card one of the most valuable hotel credit cards.

  5. 40,000 bonus points each year which far outweighs the annual fee. I can get at least 2 nights out of this bonus.

  6. I have realized all the listed benefits as award night, ten points per dollar on eligible purchases, and many more make this a great card!

  7. I am most excited about 10 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Carlson Rezidor hotels worldwide and five points per dollar everywhere else Visa is accepted

  8. The bonus nights are great! I already used that feature last month in Sydney. It was great to see the 50,000 points back in my account.

  9. I’m heading to Lima this fall, using points for several nights at the Crowne Plaza there (including the Bogo and 50k from promos last year), and will be

  10. What a great promotion! I have the card, am fairly new to the program, and I’m most excited about the bonus rewards night!

  11. The 40K points on renewal is sweet. The bonus night is nice, but sometimes, one cant either schedule a vacation right, or is difficult to maximize the bonus night. But the retention bonus on the card, lets you hang on to the card, with no pressure. Partly because it lets you accumulate (almost) enough points for a top tier stay and allows for the flexibility to schedule your vacation to best maximize your rewards returns.
Cheers – this is from a first time poster. 🙂

  12. Additional bonus points (40K) annually after you renew your card and pay the $75 annual fee is an excellent deal.

  13. I think the Gold Points are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free is the best feature!

  14. Bonus award night is definitely the best option to use the points, especially at the top category hotels they have.

  15. Although the Club Carlson Business Rewards Visa Signature Card has the same benefits as its regular card, it comes with a lower annual fee of $60 instead of the $75 annual fee for the regular card.

But the Club Carlson Visa credit card benefit I’m most excited about from their Club Carlson Rewards Visa Signature Card benefits is the: “Your last night is free as a bonus award night” where you Redeem 2 or more award nights, and your last night is free as a bonus award night and you only pay points for one award night on a 2-night award stay.

Sure the 50,000 Gold Points after first purchase within 90 days is great, as are the 10,000 Gold points after $1,500 in spend within 90 days, and 25,000 Gold Points renewal bonus each year. But redeeming 2 or more award nights and your last night is free as a bonus award night is the best benefit.

  16. Bonus Award Nights are an amazing feature and has me seriously thinking about getting the card. Especially, since we loved our stay at the Raddison Blu in Chicago last year

  17. Status for sure.

All perks are great, of course, but I think it’s the great service you get when your Gold. Status matters and Club Carlson Visa card makes that relatively easy.

You are treated the same respect and appreciation using awards nights (like at the great May Fair in London) or if you’re paying $500 per night.

  18. Definitely the Bonus Award Night! Most of my leisure travel is 2 or 3 nighters over the weekend. To get one of those nights for free is a HUGE benefit!

  19. The bonus award night is the best, but the hefty and very useful renewal bonus of 40K is very close 2nd. I wish others would follow this type of set up!!!

  20. It’s a tough call. I go back and forth between the bonus night and the anniversary bonus. But I think I’d say bonus night.

  21. It is a COOL looking card with the Black and Red Combo…. .The 40,000 points at renewal is far and away the best perk… Could easily be $300 worth of stay’s if you use the points in the right way…

  22. The 5 points per dollar on all purchases is the most Under-rated benefit on the card. That is my favorite other than the obvious Bonus Award Nights.

  23. stay two nights whilst paying for one night feature, after the recent spate of point devaluations by other chains, this is fantastic value

  24. The second night free and gold status are both great benefits of this card and why I will be applying for it shortly!

  25. Definitely the bonus nights… too bad these cards aren’t available yet in Europe, any news about an Europe implementation?

  26. The sign-up bonuses are great, but what will keep me from cancelling is the 40,000 point annual bonus. Well worth the $75 fee!

  27. 40,000 anniversary bonus points. Way better than a yearly certificate for a free night that is limited to specific categories or tiers.

  28. It has to be the generous sign-up bonuse!
Club Carlson has to be the most giving when it comes to points and promotions these days and I have become such a huge fan and try to only stay at their hotels 😀

  29. I love the sign-up bonus and renewal bonus but my favorite is Gold status so that I can do the 2 for 1 weekend stays in Europe.

  30. Getting a bonus night on any award stay seems pretty awesome to me, haven’t seen a benefit quite as generous before.

  31. Because I have been able to accumulate nearly half a million in Club Carlson points the benefit I am most excited about with my new Club Carlson card (got it a couple of weeks ago through your link) is the last night free bonus.

Essentially I can double the value of my 500,000 points to 1 million if I book in two night increments.

Thanks for all the tips, tricks and ideas on helping my family of 4 travel for less (and travel more often).

  32. The Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa card sounds great with 50k to start with just one purchase! It’s a no brainer.

  33. The bonus award night is the most exciting for me. My daughter, grandson and myself are going to southern Ca. this summer for 9 days and thanks to Club Carlson, we are out nada for hotels….

  34. The last night free redemption is clearly the best perk of any hotel credit card out there today. That is the perk I’m most excited about.

  35. I have applied for this card and should be receiving it soon. I am most excited about the free night with 2 bonus nights. I plan on using the card in Europe mainly.

  36. The points for the renewal fee each year. It means unlike a number of cards I won’t be dumping it after just one.

  37. Definitely most excited about the Award Bonus night. Already have five 2 night stays booked using them this summer in Europe!

  38. I love the free night on a 2 night stay. Going to Europe this summer and have saved 200,000 points from tthis feature!

  39. The bonus 2nd night is a fantastic benefit. This year I’ll be visiting Carlson properties in London, Istanbul, Dublin and Florida. Thank you Club Carlson!!!

  40. The bonus night when redeeming award stays is absolutely the most valuable part of this card to me; with the 85,000 possible points for the Club Carlson card (which I applied for last week, thanks to your posts!) through initial spend AND the 40,000 yearly renewal, that doubles the initial AND ongoing value of the card. Count me excited!

  41. Bonus award nights and the renewal bonus. I wonder if you can book consecutive two night award stays if you’re travelling with a friend or significant other.

  42. I’m most excited about the bonus night, which translates to a huge, huge, value, particularly at a Radisson Blu.

  43. I am most excited by the automatic Gold Elite Status. I don’t travel a lot, so gaining status by other means is most beneficial to me.

  44. The Club Carslon Bonus Award Night is an awesome cardholder benefit which will definitely encourage me to spend an extra day sightseeing and doing touristy things at my vacation destinations.

  45. The bonus award nights are the best feature. I suppose I would not have applied for the card if there had been no initial bonus, but once I have the card the extra nights are amazing value!

  46. Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!

That’s the killer app for this card

  47. The bonus points! Relatively low spend requirement, and most of them are paid to you upfront. Couple that with the elite status and the free night bonus, and its a killer deal.

  48. I’m Canadian, and CC Gold already (via AMEX Platinum)
but I just wish they bring the CC to Canada for the signup bonus, and bonus award nights for sure

I hope I win anyway 🙂 since contest doesn’t seem to limit to USA only

  49. There are so many benefits but the one I want to mention here is the 10 points per dollar for every stay. That’s great!

  50. The 10x’s point is the best for me. I just checked out of the SFO Fisherman’s wharf and could have used the 10x’s!! That would have been almost a free night stay!!

  51. Definitely the bonus award night. I have loads of points saved up thanks to previous stays, and this will stretch them massively for a forthcoming UK trip.

  52. it is hard to pick one. for me it is bonus award night and 40,000 bonus points each year makes this card great. which means almost free nights free annually. you simply dont get this sort perks in any other hotel rewards cards.

  53. bonus award nights- it makes it so much easier to pull the trigger on using points for a higher category hotel even if paid rates are lower

  54. I definitely think the bonus award night and the 40k bonus points every year are the best benefits. Picking just one would have to be the extra bonus night! Thanks, Summer!

  55. I like the Bonus Award Nights feature and automatic GOLD status. That’s awesome. I’m seriously thinking of applying for the card.

  56. Definitely the bonus award night and gold status – so excited to use these features in London and Paris next summer!

  57. The Club Carlson Visa credit card benefit I am most excited about is the 40k annual bonus bc that’s enough for a night in a category 4 hotel.

  58. The bonus night on short stays is the best perk offered by this card — and it’s so good that I can’t imagine it lasting in the long run.

  59. The bonus award night is definitely the best feature of the card, so good this will be one of my next card applications.

  60. Can’t wait to sign up on my next round of AOR coming up in a couple of weeks! I can definitely use 85K points and hopefully $500 to spend 🙂

  61. The bonus night is definitely a great perk. I also like that their are different tiers of cards based on your financial and spending needs.

  62. I like the Gold status. I’ve been to two Radissons since getting it where I was welcomed with a plate of sweets in the room. Very nice…

  63. Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!

  64. I am so excited about the bonus award nigths- Will come in very handy when we have our next stay at Radisson Aruba Resort-best Hotel in the world!!!

  65. The bonus free night when booking 2 nights. Also the 40,000 anniversary points which could give you multiple night stays at the lower category hotels.

  66. Definitely the bonus award nights! I’ve been a huge fan of Club Carlson for stepping up when other chains have been cutting.

  67. I really like the annual bonus points, it’s nice to have a little something extra to look forward to for your annual fee.

  68. The benefit that I look forward to is the “Automatic Gold Elite Status once the card is used.”. I’m getting gold status off hardly any work at all! Can’t beat that!!

  69. Up to 85,000 Bonus Gold Points to start (50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase) – that can mean several free nights!

  70. Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free.

Best benefit of having the card.

  71. Gotta be the bonus award night, it’s just so unbelievably generous (and awesome) compared to the other hotel programs out there.

  72. Receive 50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase. The 50,000 points will get me two separate bookings for 2 nights each at the Radisson Blu in Reykjavik, Iceland!!!

  73. As I am planning for one month trip to visit Europe to celebrate my graduation, I found out this card has excellent benefit – bonus night.

    Pick me pleseeeeeee

  74. 85K bonus points to start is a great and generous benefit. You can’t get close to that anywhere nowadays. I’m definitely looking forward to that.

  75. I’m really excited about the bonus free nights. Also, having gold status gives me access to extend your weekend stay. Stay 2 nights, get 1 of those nights Free. Or stay 4 nights, get 2 of those nights Free. This is a big perk for elite status especially if you are traveling to Europe.

  76. The bonus award night is a great feature of the card. While I find that Gold status does not get you much in the U.S., it does help out in other countries. The bonus award night, however, makes the card very valuable and a keeper in my book!

  77. I just got this card last month. The sign-up bonus was a huge factor for me. I also like the new promotions. Well worth the fee.

  78. Receiving 40,000 bonus points each year after you renew your card and pay the $75 annual fee makes this card worth keeping beyond the first year.

  79. The 85k bonus CC points is the best feature. I would love to use those points to stay at the Radisson Blu in Reykjavik, Iceland.

  80. It is so hard to choose… all the perks add up to an AWESOME deal! If I had to pick one, it would be the sign-up bonus… without that, it would be difficult to acquire enough points to make the 2nd-night-free perk worthwhile. Excited to be applying for this card today!!

  81. Gold Status, which means room upgrade, early and/or late check out, 50% bonus points, online booking 2,000 points bonus. AND if I win … Concierge status.

  82. Bonus night awards is a game changer. I’ve put off amassing Club Carlson points for a while, but I think that benefit is going to tip me over the edge and sign up for the business and personal cards.

  83. Bonus nights starting with just a one night stay is amazing. Close second is the 40000 points annual bonus, almost enough for 8000 miles if you chose to go that way.

  84. I guess 40k points on renewal is something thats hard to beat. It just makes up for the whole renewal fee and then some 🙂

  85. I think the bonus award night is the best benefit of the card. It’s something I have not seen with other hotel chains so that sets Club Carlson apart.

  86. The bonus night has to be the winner, both for extending a trip to kids’ sports travel events in Country Inn Suites and the relaxation of an extra night in a Radisson (sometimes in close conjunction!)

  87. Definitle6y the 50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase, plus 35,000 points after you spend $2,500 on your card within the first 90 days

  88. I love collecting (and then using) points, so I’d have to go for the spend requirement and then figure out how to cash in my points on my next vacation!

  89. The Bonus Award night is an amazing perk. I hate paying for hotel rooms and especially the taxes and fees levied by local governments. Most times when you pay with points, there is no charge, therefore no tax or fees!

  90. The Bonus Award night is an awesome perk! You are already getting 2 nights for points and the third night is free! Cha-Ching!

  91. I have applied for this card once because of the attractive bonus award nights and sign up bonuses. I have great credit. I was denied the first time and told to try signing up for it again in 6 months. In the meantime I emailed goldpoints and had them status match my Hilton Honors gold status and they did. I would sure enjoy the $500 gift certificate and upgraded to concierge elite status for a year. Pick me, pick me. 😉

  92. Definitely the bonus award night, I applied for the card for pretty much just that reason and was approved two weeks ago (but still haven’t gotten the card in the mail yet!)

  93. -Last night free.
    ..
-5x points on all other spend.
    ..
    -85k signup bonus.
    ..
    -Instant Gold Status.
    ..
-Club Carlson: All of the above.
    Yes Please. 😀

  94. For a newbie points collector like me, its the one hotel program + card combo that enables me to get rewards with minimal spend. Thanks!
