I think airline lounges can be quite useful for families (or individuals) who travel frequently. I am personally very partial to those clubs that have “family rooms” so that your kiddos can play in a safe and confined area at the airport without you having to constantly tell them to come back, watch out, don’t touch that, etc. As far as I know US Airways Clubs don’t have family rooms available, but there is an offer available for those who want a US Airways Club membership that comes with 5,000 preferred qualifying US Airways miles.
US Airways runs various specials on their club membership from time to time, and those who want an extra handful of miles to count toward elite status sometimes wait for this offer to appear. The deal is available for new or existing customers and is said to be available through the end of the year.
Earn 5,000 Preferred-qualifying miles when you buy or renew an annual membership by December 31, 2013. Enroll or renew online or call 800-828-8522 and use promo code NM500 for new memberships or CR500 for renewals.
I bought a US Airways Club membership during a discounted sale a couple of years ago as it was cheaper than buying a United Club membership, and I could use it to access United Clubs (some of which do have family rooms). I now get my United Club membership via the United Club card as it was a more cost effective way to do so. My United Club membership will also get me into US Airways Clubs (at least until the merger with AA comes to pass). The price for an annual individual membership from US Airways ranges from $450 – $325 depending on your elite level with US.
