Here with go with some quick updates….

  • Southwest is celebrating Dallas Love Field’s 42nd birthday with $42 fares from Dallas to (very) select destinations including Houston, Oklahoma City, Branson, Tulsa, Harlingen, Little Rock, San Antonio, and Amarillo.  You have to book by April 18 for travel through June 6, 2013.
  • Great Wolf Lodge is on Groupon for a really decent discount.  I have yet to visit one, but I know other families that have loved these resorts.  The only downside is that they can get kind of pricey, so pouncing on a discount is the way to go if you are interested in staying there and playing in their indoor water parks.  The rates via this deal seem to start at around $200 for the night with waterpark wrist bands included.  There is fine print saying you have to travel by certain dates that vary according to the property – often by early June.  There are also additional resort fees per day that vary by property.  Still, these are decent discounts over the regular rate.  You can read a little more about the deal and about Great Wolf Lodge at Kidventurous.  If you do decide to purchase one of these deals, just remember to go through an online points portal or cash back site like Ultimate Rewards, Shop Discover, TopCashBack (my link), etc instead of going straight to Groupon.  This way you can get an even sweeter deal for yourself.

  • The option to redeem SPG points for luxury seats at Cubs games is selling out very quickly.  A quick look showed the games to be 80-90% sold out in both the Club Box Seats (5K points for two) and the Luxury Box Seats (7.5K points for two).  I saw a few home and away games with point opportunities remaining, but they were few and far between.  I would look today if you were at all interested in using SPG points for a luxury Cubs viewing experience this year.

Hope you are having a great week and let me know if I left out anything major!

And of course the WN ‘sale’ is Tuesday/Wednesday only. So not exactly useful, even to frequent LIT-DAL travelers. :)
