Tickets to Star MegaDo 5 went on sale a few weeks ago.  I bought one along with many others, but the event was pricier than previous events, and some folks thought the offerings weren’t quite as exciting as some previous MegaDos (MegaDo just means big organized frequent flyer event).  The good news is that the organizers listened and did some work to make Star MegaDo 5 cheaper and better.  There aren’t a ton of seats left, but there are some.  I hope that some of you are able to make the trip.  The events, perks, and charter flight all sound pretty great to me!  I’m lucky enough to have been on three previous MegaDos, so if you have any questions let me know and I’ll be happy to try and answer, or refer you to someone who can.

Here are the new and improved details as posted on Milepoint.

did you really just say “July 20nd” ? :)

Viguera, copy and pasted all of that from Milepoint, so technically Tommy777 did. I tried to edit out a few typos before I posted the info from MP. Clearly I didn’t take the time to edit out all of them….but now that one is fixed. English is his second language I believe. ;)

5 hours in a luggage factory?

    Hmmm.

Hard to get excited when I’m elite with AA and Hyatt. The other airlines and Marriott do nothing for me. Marriott has the worst hotel program so I’m interested to find out what they have on offer – especially in status matching Diamonds and Plats from Hyatt and SPG respectively.

Interesting how they were able to do this on a “break even” event. But better to not ask questions, right?

Jay, I have no inside info, but I know the charter changed from Air Canada to United and I believe that was one thing that dropped the price. Maybe sponsors picked up more of the tab as well. Either way glad coach came in under 1k.
