United is bringing back their annual “Family Day” event at the San Francisco Airport, and as they have done in the last several years, they are inviting some members of the miles and points community to join in the fun. The event is Sunday October 13th, but if you want to go you need to get your requests in now. A request is not a guarantee you will be invited, but the sooner you get your request in the better as they operate on a first come, first served basis. I waited a bit too long last year and likely didn’t make the cut as a result. If you aren’t familiar with United’s Family Day, here is a good post from Daniel on Friendly Skies on the events in 2012.
Here are the details for this year as posted on this Milepoint thread:
We’re doing it again! United will be hosting its annual Family Day Open House for United employees and their families this year at SFO. Here are the details:
- Date: Sunday October 13th
- Time: 11:00am to 4:30pm
- Location: SFO Maintenance Center
This year, we’re bringing back a lot of what you know and love, including aircraft on display (from multiple United narrow- and wide-bodies, to stunt planes and civilian models) and maintenance facility tours. Featured guests also include the Patriots precision flying team, which was founded by a United pilot and is the only civilian jet demonstration team in the United States.
As in years past, we expect a large turn-out at this event, but have secured a limited number of tickets for members here and a guest to attend. If you’d like to attend, please send us an email at email@example.com with the following information:
- Email address
- Guest’s name (if applicable)
We’ll handle requests on a first come, first served basis, and let you know by October 3rd if we’re able to confirm you. Once confirmed, you’ll receive an email with all the specifics. We look forward to seeing you there!
I can’t go this year as I will be finishing up at the Chicago Seminars, but if I wasn’t already committed that day I would absolutely be trying for a spot for my daughter and me. Hopefully the timing will work out for us next year, but good luck to anyone who wants to go this year!
