One of the perks of having the co-branded American Airlines Citi cards are the reduced mileage award destinations that come out on a regular basis. Currently there are lists out for October, November, December, and January. Some versions of the co-branded American Airlines credit cards are eligible for a 5,000 mile discount, and some are eligible for a 7,500 mile discount on round trip awards. You can also get a discount on one-way awards. Get your card out and compare it to the ones on these lists to see what your discount is if you are interested in these awards.
Keep in mind that this will stack with getting 10% of your redeemed miles back, up to 10,000 miles per year with some of the co-branded cards. This means that you could potentially fly something like Miami – Vancouver round trip for just 17,500 American Airlines miles thanks to the reduced award list, plus once you get 10% of the miles back you are down to a “cost” of 15,750 American miles.
I’ve been meaning to post a reminder about this card benefit for a while now, but a helpful reader named Anita sent me an email today pointing out that several nice ski destinations were on the December and January lists, so that prompted me to go ahead and write about it now!
Here is a sampling of some of the ski cities on the December and January lists:
