When you are doing your online holiday shopping, don’t forget to be strategic about shopping portals and rewards credit cards so that you can rack up miles and points while taking advantage of good deals.  I recently wrote a comprehensive post that featured advice on how to maximize your holiday shopping purchases, but here are some updated shopping portal payout updates for retailers that are higher than normal on Cyber Monday.  Also remember to take advantage of American Express offers such as the amazing $25 statement credit for $75 Amazon purchases.

Don’t forget to stack rewards card category bonuses on top portal payouts such as the Chase Freedom 4th quarter 5x bonus at select department stores, Discover 5% back on apparel, electronics, toys, gifts, and Ink Plus 5x at office supply stores.

    • Jacki, I have used it successfully – the trick is just the restaurants that participate is quite limited in many areas. Can be a very good deal if there is a restaurant that will work for you on there. There are often many coupon codes for restaurant.com gift certs out there as well that bring the price VERY low.

  1. Restaurant.com can be a great deal, but you have to plan very carefully because the certificates come with so many restrictions such as minimum spend (which is often more than the face value of the certificate), mandatory service fee (which is usually fine) and time of use.

  2. The Neiman Marcus 12X promo that is only active until tomorrow has a particular twist that Gary of View from the Wing highlighted… one it includes a $50 gift card for $200 spend offer, two there is a $50 back on $150 at NM spend “Offer for you” at Amex right now, and of course if it is still Dec 2nd where you live, the AA shopping portal is still running their 1500 miles bonus for $150 spend, 2500 mile bonus on $250. All of these can stack, and might just make up for the ridiculous markup on NM purchases.
