I love the idea of a podcast or similar as a way to share info similar to what you might hear on a radio show, but without the whole radio aspect of things. I think podcasts are to radio more or less what blogs are to traditional written media. The barrier for entry is much, much lower and you can basically say whatever you want (for better or worse). Whether or not anyone will be interested to listen/read is another story, but pretty much anyone with some basic equipment can take a stab at it. I’m way too short on time these days to even try to do my own podcasts, but I was more than happy to be a guest on a podcast today.
I met Carol Tuttle at one of the recent in-person frequent flyer seminars I participate in a few times around the country, and we started talking about her books and weekly podcast. She has written a few books, most recently one called the Child Whisperer that I recently read and actually really liked. It’s called “The Ultimate Handbook for Raising Happy, Successful, and Cooperative Children”, and while of course I don’t think that any one book or paradigm will enable all children to be raised happily, successfully, and cooperatively, the book certainly had some real truth in it for my own daughter. If you ever read the book, my daughter is as Type 1 as they come, which would be very consistent with her love of trying new things and visiting new places the way we do in our travels!
Anyway, I think much of her weekly Child Whisperer Show today will be an interview with me about family travel, miles, and points. It is all pretty basic stuff since her audience is probably largely brand new to this world of miles and points. However, if you like podcasts, and want to check it out it airs “live” at 12 Eastern today and you will be able to download it after that. I’ll post that link once I get it.
