Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!  We are enjoying the heck out of having a weekend at home after our big adventure around the world.  While we catch up on sleep and laundry, here is a catch-up on some miles and points updates and promotions.

Register for the new Marriott Summer Promotion:

There are some different versions of this promotion, but the one available in my account was double points after second paid stay, up to 25,000 bonus points for stays between June 1 – August 31.  You need to register by July 31, so I recommend doing it now before you have a chance to forget and possibly miss out on bonus points.

You can get info about all the other current major hotel promotions on my Hotel Promos Page

Get bonus Marriott points via Social Media and “Plus Points”:

Marriott has introduced a way to earn up to 2,000 free points per month via their new “Plus Points” program.  To earn points you need to connect your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter to your Marriott Rewards account.  You will then get bonus points when you do things such as 250 points for “liking” a page, 25 points for a re-tweet, and 25 points for a “check-in”.  You do not have to be staying in a Marriott property to earn points.  I personally have not done this yet as I don’t use social media in this sort of way often enough to amass any real number of points, but if you think this will be a good way for you to rack up 2,000 points per 30 days then you can head here to register.

Bonus Miles on US Airways for Flying American Eagle From LaGuardia to 10 Cities:

If you are flying American Eagle operated flights from LaGuardia to one of 10 cities from May 5 – June 30, 2014, you can get 1,000 bonus US Airways Divided miles if you credit your trip to US Airways.  One-way flights earn 500 bonus miles.  This promotion is valid from LaGuardia to Charlottesville Albemarle, VA (CHO), Dayton, OH (DAY), Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem, NC (GSO), Knoxville, TN (TYS), Little Rock, AR (LIT), Louisville, KY (SDF), Norfolk, VA (ORF), Richmond, VA (RIC), Roanoke, VA (ROA), and Wilmington, NC (ILM).  You must register to be eligible for this promotionThanks to Deals We Like for sharing news of this promotion.

Uber Delivers Manicures in DC (plus $20 off new customers):

On Mother’s Day (Sunday May 11th), between 10:00am – 5:00pm you can request a manicure for the Mom in your life by clicking on the UberMANI icon that will appear in DC on the Uber app.  It is $35 to have a manicurist appear at your location thanks to an Uber driver!  Included in that price, the manicurist will do one 30 minute water-less manicure complete with polish removal, nail file and buff, cuticle treatment, hand massage, and nail polish application from one of 8 Julep nail polish colors.  You get to keep the nail polish for touch-ups when the manicure is over.  The Uber blog reports that no cash is required and there is no need to tip. Your UberMANI will be charged to the credit card, PayPal or Google Wallet tied to your Uber account.  I see a chance to have a manicure coded as travel on your credit cards that might earn a bonus on travel!

As an added bonus, if you are new to Uber you can use the code UBERMANI to save $20 on your first ride, including this manicures-to-you opportunityThanks to the Deal Mommy for sharing news of this cool promo.

Hope you all have a great weekend no matter where you are!

  1. Marriott is my first-choice hotel program, so I jumped on the Plus Points Promo right away yesterday. Liking pages on Facebook or following on Twitter is so easy. At the very least, it is worth spending 5 minutes to get 2000 free points this month just by liking a few pages (you only have to like 8 to get the 2000 points). Set a reminder and do it again a month later for more points. Tweeting and checking in would take more time and are less-rewarding at 25 points, so those options are probably for the more-involved. I’ll likely do this if it occurs to me, but not worth the daily time required to do it with regularity.

  2. I got a little happy and liked like 10 pages all in a couple minutes. Is this all I need to do for the month, or did I mess up since I should have done that only once per day?

  3. Looks like one per day per T&C:
“Bonus points will be awarded to the member’s account in near real-time after performing a qualifying social action (share/re-tweet content on Facebook or Twitter; social check-in/post geotagged photos on Facebook, Instagram, or Foursquare; write hashtags on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram), limited to one action per 24 hours. ”

But still, 8 likes over 8 days at 250 points per like seems pretty easy to accomplish 🙂

  4. Or maybe I should read the helpful chart a little more carefully, rather than jumping to the T&C 🙂 Looks like the cheaper 25 points are limited to one per day, whereas the better 250 points aren’t limited. interesting!
