500 Bonus United Miles from Partner Transactions (Targeted)

United is really spicing up the offers for using some of their retail partners lately – and I love it!  Last week I wrote about how to easily get 500 free United miles via joining their MileagePlus Dining program + you could very easily get another 2,500 miles if you dined at some participating restaurants (or simply bought a drink at them).  That is pretty great by itself, and way better than the normal sign-up bonus for the dining plans since it doesn’t require any activity for the first 500 miles.  Now the pot has been further sweetened if you were lucky enough to be targeted for an offer like the one below.

Bonus United Miles

All I have to do is spend $25 in the MileagePlus Shopping Portal and have one dine via the dining program or complete an online survey and I’ll get an extra 500 miles on top of the regular amounts I earn from those activities.  That won’t be hard at all, especially since many payouts in the shopping portal are increased for Father’s Day such as: Lowes 6x, Neiman Marcus 8x, Nordstrom 9x, and Golfsmith at 6x.  At the very least, I’m sure everyone has at least $25 worth of stuff from Walmart they can order at 1x (paper towels, soap, etc.).

I always have mixed feelings about sharing information related to a targeted offer as those that didn’t get it can sometimes be a bit annoyed or disappointed (especially for the really juicy targeted offers).  On the other hand, it allows everyone to be on the lookout for an email that might otherwise look like spam or trash.  I don’t know how widely this is targeted, or whether there are different versions of this offer out there, but just pay attention to your inbox just in case.  My email came from “MileagePlus Partner” and the subject line was “Ends June 30: Choose 2 deals for an extra 500 miles”

Here are the terms from the email I received:

To be eligible for the bonus miles offer, a member must:

5. 500 bonus miles is in addition to the miles earned in connection with the four partner promotional offers featured above. Miles earned in connection with partner promotions will vary based on the type of transaction.
6. Offer valid for a limited time, as determined by United MileagePlus.

  1. Thanks for posting, as I received the offer, glanced at it, and hit “delete” without reading it through. Luckily my trash hadn’t emptied so I was able to revisit it and will now take advantage of the miles!

    • Larry, great! That was exactly the point of posting.
Mark, good question! Looks like the search box is missing right now, too. They were moving my site over to a new server in preparation for overhauling it a bit later this year so I’m guessing it is a temp glitch related to that. Won’t shock me if there are a few more glitches over the holiday weekend, but hopefully the site at least stays up. 😉

  2. I tried to avail myself of the opinion Miles Club bonus, and was not successful. After a lengthy for to fill out just to apply, they start giving you alleged opportunities for surveys, but after one or two qualifying questions, they tell you you’re not eligible for that survey. So they get all of your marketing data before you find out if you’re even eligible for a survey. Scam…
