Update this offer has ended. Head here for a list of current offers.
September is here and that means that some big limited time credit card offers are ending very, very soon. In fact, the public United MileagePlus® Explorer Card 50,000 mile offer is advertized to end tomorrow – September 2nd.
The current temporarily increased offer is for 50,000 United miles after spending $2,000 in the first three months and also a 5,000 mile bonus by adding an authorized user who also makes a purchase in the first three months. The normal sign-up bonus for this card is 30,000 miles, so it would not surprise me to see it drop back down to that level unless you are specifically targeted for a better offer
United MileagePlus® Explorer Card: 50,000 miles after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days+ additional 5,000 miles for authorized user that makes a purchase
Getting 50,000 United miles for spending $2,000 in the first three months with a $0 introductory annual fee the first year is absolutely worth getting in my book. In fact, I think it is worth getting for both yourself and your partner, if you have one.
I have written about a few ways you can use the bonus miles here, so check that out if you are new to United miles. Some folks even have success getting an identical offer that also includes a $50 statement credit, so you can learn about that offer here.
In addition to the sign-up bonus miles this card also gives you other perks such as: priority boarding, two United Club passes each year, free checked bag for the primary cardmember and one companion, a 10,000 miles bonus if you spend $25,000 on the card each calendar year, and unofficially it gives you access to a little extra award availability on United operated flights.
Who can get the sign-up bonus miles:
If you have had this card in the past, pay attention to the language in the terms that indicates:
This new cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this consumer credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this consumer credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this consumer credit card within the last 24 months
Good luck if you go for the United MileagePlus® Explorer Card – that is a bunch of United miles and absolutely worth going for in my book. Just remember the advertized deadline is tomorrow – September 2nd.
