I mentioned the new 1,000 mile bonus available in the United MileagePlus shopping portal in a post about earning miles for iPhone 6 purchases this morning, but I think it is worth calling out a little more in case you skipped that post if a new iPhone isn’t on your immediate horizon.

Before I get into the details of this promo, I want to mention that I’ve been posting a lot about shopping portals this week with some different opportunities that have popped up, and as a result you may think that these promos are only for folks with huge bank accounts or shopping addictions.  However, promos like this one are useful even if all you buy are things like dog food, paper towels, and diapers.

My UPS guys has literally told me that I am “his best residential customer”, but little does he know, 90% of the boxes he delivers to us are full of super exciting things like soap, dog food, and toilet paper.  You know, the things I have to buy regardless of promos.

I earn miles, get free shipping, and don’t have to haul that (heavy) stuff myself from the store!  From September 12th – September 18th you can get 1,000 bonus United miles for cumulative purchases of $225 via MileagePlus Shopping.

1,000 bonus united miles

Buy your dog food, toilet paper, Halloween costumes, iPhone 6, or whatever for the next week, and if the cumulative total via MileagePlus Shopping is $225 or more you will get 1,000 bonus United miles on top of the miles you normally earn through the portal and on your rewards credit card.

Things like this won’t make you a “mileage millionaire”, but they will get you closer to your next trip because every mile counts!

  1. My husband just shakes his head when the boxes of paper towels and Tide come in…says that they are place in my ‘receiving area’ in the living room. 🙂

    • CC, no. Everywhere I order from has free shipping once you hit a certain threshold, often $50, but it varies. That means I don’t order until I have that large of an order to place. Occasionally I have used “free in-store pick-up” as well, but I prefer not to as that just adds a trip to the store. Hope that helps!

  2. Great article & watched the segment on night line
I do this somewhat now-but will step it up a notch thanks to you:-)
Gonna get our next trip on points & get back to the airport lounges
Thank you from a mom in Toronto, Canada
