Here are two miles and points bonuses I want you to be aware of, but for different reasons. The first I want you to register for in case you have an Amtrak ride in your fall travel plans, and the second I want you to know about so you don’t use it in 99% of situations.
Earn Double Amtrak Points:
From September 8th – November 14th you can earn double points on all Amtrak routes. You must join Amtrak Rewards (and get 500 bonus points for joining if your first trip is within 90 days), include your Amtrak Guest Rewards number at booking, and register for the double points offer online at at AmtrakGuestRewards.com/DoubleDays.

Earn 10% Bonus British Airways Avios When Transferring SPG Points:
You can transfer Starwood Preferred Guest points to many different airlines, including British Airways. When you transfer 20,000 SPG points to British Airways Avios you get a 5,000 mile bonus. This is standard, but through September 30th they are offering a 10% bonus on transferred points to British Airways. This should mean that 20,000 SPG points becomes 27,500 points instead of the standard 25,000 points.
Personally, I value SPG points too highly for SPG hotel award stays to consider transferring to Avios. This is especially true as there are so many different ways to earn Avios, as they are transfer partners of Ultimate Rewards, Membership Rewards, and have their own co-branded credit card. I don’t see a specific page with the transfer bonus information listed, but I copied the terms and conditions out of the email I received below.
Terms and Conditions:
This promotion is only open to Eligible Participants. An Eligible Participant is a person aged 18 or over and is a British Airways Executive Club (“BAEC”) Member (membership terms and conditions apply) and is enrolled and registered with one of the participating hotel partner loyalty programmes.
By taking part in this promotion, Eligible Participants confirm that they accept these Terms and Conditions.
To become a member of any of the hotel loyalty programmes click here and simply choose the Starwood hotel partner, follow the links to enrol via their website.
Eligible Participants will receive 10% more BAEC Avios (“Bonus Avios”) when they convert Qualifying Hotel Loyalty Points into Avios between 01 September to 30 September 2014.
To participate, Eligible Participants must first enrol if they are not already a member via the hotel property link provided above.
“Qualifying Hotel Loyalty Points” means a minimum 1,500 as an SPG Gold member, or from 2,500 upwards as an SPG Preferred member.
Bonus Avios can take 4-6 weeks to show on your account from the date of conversion. Once they have been credited, you can start redeeming them for flights, hotels and Avis car hire. Taxes, fees and charges remain payable by the BAEC Member. Reward flights are subject to availability and capacity control and availability may be limited at peak times.
Loyalty points earned with the participating hotel loyalty programme during the Qualifying Period are valid for this promotion, provided that they are redeemed within the Qualifying Period.
Bonus Avios is non-redeemable for cash.
Bonus Avios is issued subject to the BAEC Terms and Conditions and all passengers and baggage are subject to the general terms and conditions of carriage.
otel loyalty scheme membership, and earning and redemption of Qualifying Hotel Loyalty Points are subject to the Terms and Conditions of each specific hotel’s loyalty scheme in addition to British Airways Terms and Conditions, as applicable.
Standard Avios are issued in addition to Bonus Avios.
