The new round of IHG Rewards Point Breaks hotels is now bookable!

As usual, the Point Breaks rooms are available for 5,000 IHG Reward points per night and rooms are now available bookings (and stays) from September 29 – November 30th. Even though IHG has introduced some limits on how many Point Breaks reservations folks can book to help with limited inventory, you should still grab the nights you want ASAP before someone else does. The popular hotels, such as the one Intercontinental property on the list and hotels in popular cities such as Dublin, will likely go quickly.

Point Breaks Dublin

You can view the full preview list of properties below. Then just go to the IHG website to make your booking. If a Point Breaks night is available, it will show as 5,000 points per night just like the image above. You can make two Point Breaks reservations per hotel during each Point Breaks time frame.

As is typical, the list is really a crap shoot as to whether any properties will work for your family.  Most of the properties in the United States are Holiday Inn Express or Candlewood Suites type properties, though some are in some pretty interesting cities such as Salt Lake City, Spokane, Destin, San Diego, Dallas, and San Antonio.  The hotels may not be located in the best spot in those cities, but for 5,000 points per night it may be worth being a little out of the way in order to have huge savings!

Outside the US there are a few interesting options such as the Crowne Plaza Dublin, Ireland, Holiday Inn Helsinki, Crowne Plaza Jerusalem, and Intercontinental Nha Trang Vietnam.  In fact, I personally think this is one of the better lists that we have seen in recent months, though better is of course subjective based on your travel plans.

Booking Intercontinental or Crowne Plaza properties like some of those for just 5,000 points per night is insane when they can normally cost 6x that price, or even more.  If you have travel plans to some of those locations then get to booking.  I’m not sure if all of the properties are 100% bookable at that time, but some are!

If you need more IHG points, they can be purchased for the following rates from points.com:

  • 1,000 – 10,000 points for $13.50 per 1,000 points
  • 11,000 – 25,000 points for $12.50 per 1,000 points
  • 26,000 – 60,000 points for $11.50 per 1,000 points

In my experience those points do post instantly though I obviously cannot guarantee that is always the case.

Comments

  1. This was early! I got notified with the Flyer Talk thread this morning. Snagged 3 nights at the Port Wentworth HIX – right next to Savannah. Not a fancy hotel, but I was going to use starpoints, and I’d rather repurpose them for another trip.

  2. Many thanks Mommy Points! I was able to book two rooms for an upcoming family trip to Ireland. Definitely saved us money by using only 5,000 points.
