Earn up to 29x Miles from Sears and Other Portal Payouts!

As the number of shopping days and (shipping days) until Christmas are dwindling, we are seeing some shopping portals spike some increased mileage earnings to try and snag your last minute purchase dollars!  These increased mileage earnings are not lasting long, so don’t expect a big payout from today hang to around a few days from now unless it explicitly states otherwise.

Increased Mileage Earning

Also remember that these payouts are on top of the miles and points your credit card will earn.  For example, if you use your Chase Freedom® to make a $100 purchase at Sears.com at 12x as shown below, you will earn 5x points on your Chase Freedom and 12x via the United MileagePlus Shopping portal.  If you first buy an e-gift card to Sears.com before using the gift card through the portal, then you could potentially add another 12x via that double dip, for a total of 29x!  That is insane and could turn a $100 purchase into 2,900 miles and points!  In a more extreme example, say you had a $1,000 appliance purchase on your list – that could be 29,000 miles and points!

Note that you have to have a United MileagePlus card to see the 12x Sears rate, otherwise you will see 8x, which is still good.  Also, that form of double dipping with a gift card doesn’t work with all retailers, but does work pretty reliably with Sears.

The Chase Freedom is offering 5x points on select department stores, Amazon.com, and Zappos.com this quarter, for a combined max of $1,500 in purchases.

  1. Note that to get the 12x at Sears, you must be logged in (and I *THINK* you also need the Chase United card – I can’t tell because I have it).

If not, it’s *only* 8x, which is still a great deal!

  2. I can’t seem to find anything to buy from Sears. I still have a gift card I bought from at least a year ago, when they ran 20x on the portal. Every time I want something, I always find them much cheaper on Amazon or target. And unfortunately, there isn’t a Kmart near me to just buy daily household items. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and pay more to get rid of the gc.

  3. Anyone find something good to buy on sears? Was considering a laptop but having the same issue as above. Their price doesn’t look great. Maybe its time to get some workout equipment for the home gym.
