Last weekend I presented a couple of sessions at the USA Today Frequent Traveler University in Washington DC.  These events are always so much fun as it is pretty exhilarating to be around others who are as excited about miles, points, and travel as I am!  I am always so grateful to have stumbled into such as an amazing hobby after being around a couple hundred other like-minded people at one of these events.

At this particular event I presented two sessions with my friend, and fellow family traveler, Ed from Pizza in Motion.  In both of those sessions I promised to share the slides from our presentations so that people didn’t feel the need to take photos of particular slides or jot down extra notes.  If you weren’t in the sessions, I’m not sure that the slides are particularly helpful as a stand-alone item, though of course anyone is welcome to look at them.

The first presentation is a very introductory session with tips on getting started with miles and points, including things you really need to think about before diving in head-first.

The second session we presented was geared toward families and includes ten tips to make family travel cheaper and easier.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the sessions and FTU DC.  It truly was so much fun to connect face to face and I’m already looking forward to an upcoming Frequent Traveler University in my own home state of Texas in April!

  1. Great slideshows!! I currently reached my spending goal on the Chase Ink Bold business card to get the sign up bonus (70k miles). Just got a Chase South West card today to get another 50k after spending 2k. I also applied for the business SW card but was declined, I think because of my Chase Ink Bold. I really want to shoot for the SW companion pass, but was really counting on the other 50k points from the SW Business card. Any suggestions? Do you think I would have a problem getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred? I know if I transfer the points to SW they won’t count toward the companion pass though, right?

    • Chris, if you want the CP I would just chill for a few months and try for the SW Biz card again down the road. Good luck!
