IHG has released details on their first bonus points promotion of 2015 called Set Your Sights.  This promo promises to award at least 50,000 bonus points for those who complete the required tasks.  This promotion is structured much like the previous Big Win, and the current Into the Nights promotions, with each customer having their own targeted list of tasks to accomplish to trigger the bonus points.

Before I go further into the details, remember that the current Into the Nights promo went through more than its fair share of terms and conditions chaos and IT related issues.  That seems to be mostly resolved at this point, so it is possible that lessons were learned from that promo that won’t repeat for this promo.  It is also possible that promo chaos in the past will be a predictor of promo chaos in the future, so factor that in when deciding whether or not to participate.  Now back to details on this new promo…

IHG Set Your Sights Promo

You must register for the Set Your Sights promo and it runs from January 1, 2015 – April 30, 2015.  While your individual tasks will vary, here are my tasks as an example of what is out there.

IHG Set Your Sights

If I did all of those tasks I would earn 20,400 bonus points and then if I complete at least four of the five tasks I trigger an additional 29,400 “achievement bonus”, for a total of up to 50,000 bonus points.  My Into the Nights tasks were slightly easier to obtain, and much more lucrative since I can earn two bonus award nights anywhere instead of just a total of 50,000 bonus points.

If I was naturally going to already have several IHG stays early in 2015 it might make sense to push a little to earn some bonus points via this promotion, but since I don’t currently have any IHG stays needed during that time frame I am personally unlikely to participate this time around.  However, I do like that they have released details of the promo and are at least keeping things somewhat interesting

What did your tasks and bonuses look like for the Set Your Sights promo?  Are you likely to participate?

  1. IHG Into the Nights IT problems are not resolved. My wife completed a stay in mid November that posted to her IHG accoun, but does not show on her Into the Nights task board.

I called up today to check on the problem before I book another three nights with IHG to complete her Into the Nights offer.

IHG Rewards Club customer service told me IT problems have them locked out of Into the Nights dashboards and I need to call back tomorrow to check on her account.

By tomorrow I just may book 3 hotel nights with another hotel chain instead.

    • I too had trouble when calling and was concerned about getting credited for my booking and stays within the Into the Nights Promo. Some of my stays although showing up in my IHG account right away took up to 6 weeks to post to my Into the Nights dashboard. Everything finally came through and I got a ton of points for my stays, bonus points and 2 free nights. It was well worth it to complete the promo for me. If you’re close to completing the promo, you’re probably better off staying there for the 3 nights you need, especially if that’s all you need to earn your 2 free nights. Good luck!

  2. Not worth it for me.

    60,200: Total Bonus Points

    5,000: Stay Once
    15,600: Stay 10 Nights
9.600: Stay 4 weekends, Saturday night and another night
5,000: Book mini-vacation package at Holiday Inn Club Vacations
5,000: Books 2 night minimum at The Venetian or The Palazzo
2,000: Apply for IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card
3,000: Book 1 Bonus Points Package
15,000: Complete 6 of 7 of the above.

  3. My wife completed her easy Into The Nights offer, of four stays for 2 certificates. That did show up on the website as completed. But when we tried to pick 2 certs instead of 50K points, the website was unresponsive. After trying daily for about a week, we called IHG to fix it for us. She was on the phone for over 45 minutes before they were able to set certs as her choice. Not to make a reservation, just to set the certs as her choice from the offer. 45 minutes per person, times possibly thousands of people…a simply mind boggling boondoggle.

    • Are you familiar with their points break deals? Some pretty stylish and luxury offerings are available for only 5000 points per night. Hard to find better redemption value than the points break promo at any other hotel chain.

  4. Was gonna post my offer but can’t seem to paste a photo into these comment boxes. My offer is quite generous though, could probably finish mine with only 7 nights paid. I’m going for it as I find holiday inns are competitively priced in the areas I need to travel this winter, was probably gonna stay there at least 4-5 nights anyways.
