Clearly I love points, with Hyatt Gold Passport points being one of my favorite kinds, so I was thrilled when I unexpectedly got 10,000 bonus Hyatt points yesterday.  Here’s how…

Hyatt MilestoneA couple years ago reports popped up of Hyatt Gold Passport aficionados who had visited 50 unique Hyatt properties receiving a surprise free night to use at any Hyatt in the world as a gift for their “milestone stay”.  I knew I had to be close to 50 unique properties, but didn’t think much of it, especially because there are plenty of Hyatt junkies who never received their milestone gift.  It seems to be great gift that lives somewhere between a milestone they recognize across the board, and a “surprise and delight” bonus you may or may not get.

Well, apparently my 1st eligible hotel was the Hyatt Regency Dallas in 2009 and my 50th eligible hotel was the Hyatt Place Nashville in late December 2014.  Forty-eight of the hotels were visited from 2011 – 2014 with the stays being a mix of paid, on points, and cash and points.

I didn’t receive the free night at any Hyatt like people were getting a while back for their milestone, but I did get 10,000 bonus Hyatt Gold Passport points + another 500 points for playing a game on the promo site.  I value that number of points at close to $200 given my redemption patterns, so that was a very nice gift from Hyatt.

From poking around this Flyertalk thread it seems that the standard recognition right now seems to be 5,000 points for 25 unique properties, 10,000 points for 50 unique properties, and a free night is now obtained at 75 unique properties.  A quick count of my husband’s properties shows he is only a couple properties away from 25, so fingers crossed his account gets “surprised and delighted” for that milestone soon.

Even though I have already visited at least 50 Hyatt properties, I know I still am looking forward to trying out London Churchill, Park Hyatt Sydney, Hyatt Escala Lodge, Park Hyatt Milan, Park Hyatt Vienna, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa, Andaz Napa, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort , Hyatt Regency Aruba, and many more.  I imagine it will be a little while before I get a chance to visit 25 more unique Hyatt properties to hit a total of 75, but it should eventually happen, so I sure hope they keep this unique recognition program around.

Hyatt 50 Hotels Milestone

My 50 unique Hyatt properties

When I think back on my 50 Hyatt properties, the ones I remember the most were the awesome resorts like the Grand Hyatt Kauai, Hyatt Lost Pines, Andaz Maui, Park Hyatt Maldives, and some of the top notch urban hotels like the Andaz Fifth Avenue, Park Hyatt Zurich, Park Hyatt Paris Vendome, and Park Hyatt Tokyo.  That said, we have certainly benefited from plenty of Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties along the way, too.  You can find reviews of many of the Hyatts we have visited here

I’m beyond lucky to have had the ability (and points) to visit all of those properties, and more.  They have enabled us to see various parts of the world in incredible comfort, and have lots of fun along the way.

  1. I am glad I was not the only one crazy excited by this–not just the points but knowing and seeing all the places I’ve been. If I’m not traveling with family I will now check out of one Hyatt after a night and check into another one for each subsequent night, taking special care to try new ones. Seems their promo worked exactly as they planned, because it’s turned me into an obsessed freak.

  2. How did you get your hyatt stays on the map ? I don’t see a link in your report. Great information on this hyatt treat. Thanks !
