The flash sale that IHG had promised would launch today for The Venetian and The Palazzo (InterContinental Resorts) in Las Vegas has launched early This means the properties are now live for booking at 25,000 points per night instead of the standard 50,000 points per night!  This sale will go on for the next 26 hours only.

IHG Flash Sale

You can book award nights at these two properties on the Strip in Vegas for dates from March 10, 2015 – December 28, 2015 at 50% the standard award price with the exception of the blackout dates that include:

3/25/2015, Wed, 3/26/2015, Thu, 3/27/2015, Fri, 4/14/2015, Tue, 4/15/2015, Wed, 5/3/2015, Sun, 5/18/2015, Mon, 5/19/2015, Tue, 5/23/2015, Sat, 5/24/2015, Sun, 5/29/2015, Fri, 5/30/2015, Sat, 6/19/2015, Fri, 6/20/2015, Sat, 8/17/2015, Mon, 9/5/2015, Sat, 9/18/2015, Fri, 9/19/2015, Sat, 9/28/2015, Mon, 9/29/2015, Tue, 10/6/2015, Tue, 10/7/2015, Wed, 11/2/2015, Mon, and 11/3/2015, Tuesday.

If you want to take advantage of this sale, remember that if you already have some points in your account, you can also “buy” additional points at a cost of $0.007 each (for a total of about $175 in points per night) – check out this post by Million Mile Secrets for details on that method of obtaining IHG Rewards points.

If you already have IHG points in your account via the 70,000 point IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card sign-up bonus (advertized to end on 3/31), or other methods, those could be perfect to use, too!  If you are looking to stretch your points, you can also use cash + points to book the properties starting at 15,000 points + $70 per night.

There are obviously cheaper places to stay in Las Vegas, but on weekends the rates to stay at the big resorts on the Strip can get pricey, so this could be a very good alternative to stay in the middle of the action without spending big bucks!

Thanks to Loyalty Traveler for noticing the sale was live early!

  1. Seems to be a pattern with IHG Rewards Club to launch promotions earlier than the announced time and date. The Palazzo has some of my favorite standard rooms in Las Vegas.

  2. Booked. Points are amazing. A $300 a night hotel for “free.” Now let’s hope Vegas doesn’t cost me a thousand dollars in the casinos…

  3. I had rooms at MGM booked on Hyatt points, but I decided to switch to The Palazzo instead thanks to this deal. Hyatt points are a lot more valuable to me than IHG even though I would have been getting 20% back on my Hyatt points thanks to the current promo with the credit card. Palazzo is quite a bit nicer than MGM. I’m sure my wife will appreciate that.

  4. These same rooms are bookable via Priceline Express Deals(5 Star, North strip, casino) for $170 at most. Often much less.
25K points is a much more competitive price point, but not that great.
The ridiculous $32 resort fee is tacked whether points are used or not.

    • @Geoff, for my 3 nights, the cost with those “Express Deals” for a 5 star north strip casino would be $675.18 with taxes and then have the resort fee on top of that. That’s like $225/night before the resort fee. If I wanted the Trump included, I could select the one that doesn’t mention the casino, but I don’t want to stay at the Trump (which is where I’m pretty sure it would put me).

      • Kevin, thanks for sharing. Perfect example of how there is rarely ever one way to always get the best deal. 25,000 points to stay at these properties will not be the best deal for every date, but it probably will be for some dates, and certainly is if you have the points just sitting in your account and you want to keep cash in your pocket for other stuff. Have a great trip!
