Big Credit Card Offer: 80,000 IHG Points + $50 Statement Credit

While poking around on the IHG website today I stumbled across a pretty big credit card offer I wanted to be sure and share in case you hadn’t seen it.  To be clear, this isn’t any kind of affiliate link or referral, it is just the best offer I have seen for the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card from Chase (and better than the 70k affiliate offer I have!).

The offer I saw for the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card awards 80,000 IHG points after you spend $1,000 in the first three months + it also gives a $50 statement credit after the first purchase on the card.  There is a $0 introductory annual fee the first year, then $49 in subsequent years.  I had a link up to the offer page earlier, but it doesn’t actually seem to work unless it was presented to you on the IHG site, so to avoid confusion I took it down.  I can bring up the application when I am on the IHG site, but not when I try to open it up later.

The IHG website did show me multiple versions of the offer during my time on the site, so there clearly are many different sign-up bonuses for this card out there.  However, if you spend some time on the IHG site keep your eyes peeled for the 80k + $50 statement credit offer as it might pop-up.  I spotted it at the bottom of the page when I was pricing out reservations.

If you aren’t familiar with all the perks this card awards, remember it also gives 10% of redeemed points back (up to 100k annually), awards an anniversary night you can use at IHG properties around the world, and gives you automatic IHG Platinum status.

I love seeing improved offers for solid cards, even if they aren’t totally widely available.

  1. Thanks mommy points!!! I’ve been looking to apply so this is perfect! Btw How’s your Australia planning going? Kinda rough on my end! Flights disappear really quickly. Did you book yet?

    • Ang, no, we had to shelve that plan until my husband’s employment situation normalizes again. Too many unknowns to go forward with planning right now. Good luck looking for your flights though!

      • Awww, I am sorry to hear =( I am sure once that’s resolved, you will have other opportunities for even better trips =) Good luck to you and your family! Can’t wait to read about your trip to Spain!!! =)

    • Alex, you are right – bummer! It worked for me just fine, but now when I navigated away and came back it doesn’t, so it does seem to be targeted even though it didn’t look like it at first. Updated the post to tell folks to be on the look-out for it on the IHG site, as it did work for me when going directly from there.

      • Don’t worry – I did the same thing last month. 🙂 I wrote a post about it but I had actually not clicked to Apply and found out later it was not working.
Good news, though, is that many people are having success messaging Chase after signing up for the 70K and getting the extra 10K!

  2. Yep. Just got it a couple weeks ago. I had gotten an invite in the mail for 80K and after I applied online I had the 80K+$50 offer appear on my account page at IHG. Phoned Chase and they verified I would get the $50 also even tho the invite I applied under didn’t mention it. Chase is good like that.

  3. This is old news, covered at length on Flyer Talk, Doctor of Credit, and other sites. It’s a narrowly targeted offer. IMO, you should change the title so as to temper expectations; it’s annoying to click through and see no new offer. But, I should add, your blog is generally quite good.

    • Guess I missed those – still useful to know its out there I think especially since it seems others are having good luck with it. Thanks for reading!

  4. Hi Summer, I don’t think that IHG has a similar deal as SPG where the fifth night is free. Do you know of any other hotel chain that offers a free fifth or 4th night?

  5. I’ve been up and down the IHG website for half an hour, checking rates, etc. The only offers I see are 70,000 pts or 60,000 pts + $50 statement credit. 🙁

I’d love to hear what hotels, and what page you were on when the 80,000 +$50 credit offer came up.

    Thanks!

  6. I clicked the 60k + $50 link and changed the URL where it said 60 to 80. It popped right up! Maybe I’ll try 120…..

  7. I would have totally signed up today after reading this article but they are only offering 60k at this time. I Googled the 80k deal, got to the link , clicked “apply now” and it redirected me to the 60k. They should let people who go out of their way for the 80k just sign up for it, they’re still making money!

Guess i’ll have to wait for the next round of 80k! Maybe they’ll do 100k this time. $-D
