It has been a while since I posted about bonus airline miles available via shopping online.  That is in part because who really keeps doing tons of shopping after the holidays are over, and also because there simply haven’t really been many good online shopping bonuses to report since Christmas.

However, there are some bonuses available today via AAdvantage eShopping that are worth a mention in case you have some spring purchases to make.

First, you can earn up to 2,250 bonus American Airlines miles via the AAdvantage eShopping portal regardless of which retailers you shop at from 3/30/15 – 4/29/15.

AA Shopping Bonus Miles

Spend a cumulative amount of $125-$299 to earn 250 bonus miles

Spend a cumulative amount of $300-$699 to earn 1,000 bonus miles

Spend a cumulative amount of $700 or more to earn 2,250 bonus miles.

That is a pretty hefty amount required to earn the full 2,250 bonus, but in case you had a good chunk of purchases to make this month anyway, this is a good way to get some extra rewards for your trouble.  On top of that, some retailers in the AA shopping portal have some increased mileage payouts right now.

If you aren’t familiar with shopping portals, know that 9x in this case means that you earn 9 American Airlines miles for every one dollar you spend.  This means a $100 purchase at a 9x store earns you 900 American Airlines miles assuming you go to that retailer by first going through the AAdvantage eShopping portal as a logged in customer.  You will earn points for using a rewards earning credit card on top of the miles you earn for shopping through the portal.

Sears 9x – remember that you can buy an e-gift card for 9x, then use it via the portal to double dip for 18x

Barneys Warehouse 12x

CB2 6x

Lowe’s 6x

HR Block at Home 12x

Overstock.com 4x – remember this will stack with the 5x 2nd quarter bonus via the Chase Freedom®

Shoes.com 9x

Tom’s 8x

ULTA 8x

World Market 6x

The United MileagePlus Shopping site doesn’t currently have a bonus miles promo, but they do have a few increased payouts I will mention below.  Note that theses are the payouts I see with a United co-branded credit card, your account may see lower amounts if you don’t have a United card.

J.Crew 6x

Home Depot 4x

Let me know if you come across any other good online shopping portal payouts!

  1. I used AA portal for a Sears gift card, then the portal again with the gift card and bought a dishwasher. Should have gotten me about 6k points. That was in early January, still no points. AA says they’re still pending with Sears.

  2. As far as double dipping with sears e-gift cards, I’m assuming that when you click through the portal for the second time (when you want to use the gift card for a purchase), that you can’t buy another gift card with a gift card — you would actually have to buy something other than a gift card?

    Thanks in advance!

    • The Frequent Miler has a number of posts on this subject. I’ve personally bought an e gift card, gone to the local Sears, told them that I wanted to exchange it for a plastic card (buying a sears gift card with a paper printout). Then I went to another cashier and bought other gift cards with my Sears gift card. Personally, I get gas cards, but your choice. Check out the selection for yourself.

  3. Thanks! I need to buy a lawnmower and was wondering if I should buy at Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Good chance I will be buying at Sears now.

Question: Have you checked to see if buying gift cards at Lowe’s, Home Depot also work, or is Sears one of the few that allows the Double Dip here?

  4. Thanks for this post, I was just about to make a big purchase at Macy’s! Would I have to use an AA branded credit card to shop on the AA portal? Or would I be able to pay with a Barclay card (or any other card) and still earn the AA miles?
