New IHG Share Forever Promotion: Up to 174,000 Points to Keep and Share

There is a new IHG promotion launching on May 1st called “Share Forever”, and it has a unique twist as you aren’t just earning points or free nights for yourself, but also to share…or keep.  Like with most IHG promos of late, the exact details of your specific offer will vary, but the total earning potential will be between 68,500 to 115,500 bonus points for yourself plus a maximum 58,500 bonus points to share, or keep.  The promotion will run from May 1 through Sept. 7, 2015, and is open to IHG members who are residents of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The first bonus is the same for everyone and it consists of 500 points for you and 500 points for you to share (or keep) after one eligible night.  Below is an example of what your specific awards might look like.  As always, those with the greatest number of eligible nights will earn the most bonus points.  Of course if you don’t have lots of IHG nights in your future, the easiest way to get a bunch of IHG points in a hurry is via the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card that awards 70,000 points after $1,000 in spending in the first three months.

The promo link doesn’t seem to be live quite yet, though it is scheduled to go live at some point today.  You should be able to register here as soon as it is up and running (and I’ll update when that happens).

While we are on the topic of IHG, remember that many of their hotels will be changing category effective May 1st (and the details regarding which ones won’t be released ahead of time).  When the promo officially goes live, I’d love to hear what your specific offer looks like.

  1. I clicked on the link last night and didn’t think my registration had actually gone through, but this morning I saw a congratulations email telling me I’d registered and already gotten 5,000 points. Hope it isn’t an error as I see above that you’ve listed 500 points. I’m new to all of this and only recently signed up for IHG awards plus just this past week received my IHG card (still in the beginning stages of my spending). Copy/paste of the body of my email.

Congratulations! You just registered for Share Forever and you’re already a winner! How easy was that? You’ve won 5,000 IHG Rewards Club Points (or airline miles equivalent*) that will be electronically deposited into your account. Congratulations!

If we need additional information in order to fulfill your prize, we’ll be sure to contact you at this email address. To review the rules for this promotion, click here. Please refer to them for any questions you may have.

  2. I’ve tried a few times to register and haven’t yet been successful, though I know some others have gotten through. Seems the IHG IT system is up to its old tricks…

  3. I just tried it and was able to register. It now shows up under the “My Offer Status” tab on the “account management” website.

On the “dashboard” of the http://shareforever.ihg.com/ website I was able to find the details of my personalized promo:

    “Stay 1 Night
    For You: 500 points.
    To Share: 500 points.

    Goal: Stay 4 Nights
    For You: 4,000 additional points.
    To Share: 1,000 points.

    3 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 2,000 additional points.
    To Share: 2,000 points.

    6 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 8,000 additional points.
    To Share: Gold Elite Status.

    10 Nights Above Goal
For You: 25,000 additional points or a free night.
To Share: 25,000 points or a free night.

    20 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 30,000 additional points.
    To Share: 30,000 points.

Earn up to 69,500 points for you and up to 58,500 points to share”

  4. A few months back I used Chase Ultimate Reward points to book 3 nights in an IHG hotel (Holiday Inn) for the end of May. At that time I was not an IHG rewards member. Since then I became an IHG rewards member and then got an IHG credit card. My IHG rewards count now shows platinum status (says Visa platinum recard so I guess it’s showing?). When I check in to the hotel will I be able to have them add my rewards # so I can get credit for these stays? Would that give me credit on this share forever promotion?

  5. Having zero IHG status, my offer was completely different:

    Stay 1 Night
    For You: 100 points.
    To Share: 500 points.

    Goal: Stay 4 Nights
    For You: 800 additional points.
    To Share: 1,000 points.

    3 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 400 additional points.
    To Share: 2,000 points.

    6 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 1,600 additional points.
    To Share: Gold Elite Status.

    10 Nights Above Goal
For You: 5,000 additional points or a free night.
To Share: 25,000 points or a free night.

    20 Nights Above Goal
    For You: 6,000 additional points.
    To Share: 30,000 points.

Your Earning Potential Earn up to 66,300 points for you and up to 58,500 points to share.

First thing I notice is that the first bonus is not the same for everyone, as mine says just 100pts. Second thing I notice is the math is way off. They say my potential is 66,300 / 58,500 points, but if you add ’em up, they fall way short: 13,900 / 40,000. Which leads me to think the offer page is a bit wonky. On the positive side, my goal is just 4 nights!

Other oddities – when I expand the offers, some have specifics such as, for meeting my goal, “Earn 800 additional points for you and 1,000 points to share with a friend toward a digital download”. Seems wonky indeed.
