Sometimes the credit cards in your wallet (or sock drawer, or safe, or wherever…) can offer special incentives or offers beyond what they do on a day to day basis.  It can be hard to keep up with all those offers when you have multiple cards, so here are three card perks and incentives to be aware of this weekend.

Earn 3x Points on Dining with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card for First Friday:

The first Friday of each month the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card earns 50% more points on dining (3x instead of 2x), so your Friday lunches out, happy hours, dinners, etc. result in a few more Ultimate Reward points.  However, I actually do not recommend using the Sapphire Preferred for dining right now if you also have the Chase Freedom® as it is offering 5x points dining this quarter.

Buy One Get One Free Movie Tickets with Visa Signature and Fandango:

Free movieJust as they have done in previous summers, Fandango and Visa Signature have teamed up to offer cardholders a free movie ticket worth up to $19.50 on Fridays when you buy two or more tickets via Fandango.  This offer is valid from April 24th to August 21st.  This year Chase Visa Signature cardholders get extra time by being able to purchase tickets on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays for a Friday showing (great when the show you want may sell out by Friday).   Other Visa Signature cardholders can only purchase on Fridays for Friday shows.

There is a limit of one free movie ticket per 30 days per card, but I’m betting lots of you have way more than one Visa Signature card.  There is also a stipulation of a maximum of one ticket per registered email address per 7 day period regardless of the number of Visa Signature cards.  Sorry to those from other countries, but this offer is said to be for US issued Visa cards only.

Get Into Museums and More Free with Bank of America Cards:

The first weekend of each month (like this weekend) your Bank of America issued debit and credit cards can get you into 150 various museums, botanical gardens, zoos, and aquariums in 32 states via their “Museums on Us” program.  Examples of participating museums include: Children’s Museum of Manhattan, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, Anchorage Museum, Houston Zoo, Denver Zoo, and the Newseum in Washington DC.

Each cardholder gets one free general admission ticket, so make sure you and your partner each bring your own debit or credit card.  Free admission is valid on Saturday and Sunday at most locations, but check the map linked above to be 100% sure.

Hope you all have a great spring weekend!

  1. Thanks for the Fandango/Visa tip. Does Visa have anemail list or other means of being notified of new offers and perks of their cards?

    • Actually, it’s 5% cash back for Chase Freedom. Depending on how much you value a UR point ( i.e. TPG @ 2.1cents/pt), the x3 Chase Sapphire would edge out the 5% cash back Freedom at a 6.3% value. Again, it all depends on how much you value UR.

      • Anybody who has a freedom and doesn’t have a complimentary card that supports transfers to Chase UR rewards partners is doing it wrong

  2. Mention the Freedom in the post, and it can be 5% cash back or 5 Ultimate Reward points if you also have Sapphire Preferred or Ink Bold. So, Freedom is absolutely the better choice If you have it and haven’t already maxed out the $1500 quarterly 5x max.
