Two Days Left for Increased 70,000 Point IHG Offer

There are only two days left in the month of May, and in addition to locking in as many Club Carlson awards as you possibly can before they get much pricier, there is another task to highlight on your “miles and points” to do list.  If you were planning on applying for the IHG Rewards Club credit card while the sign-up bonus was increased to 70,000 points, this reportedly your last chance this time around.

This offer has expired.

IHG has let me know that the increased offer ends on May 31st.  Now, it has been extended once before from March 31st to May 31st, but as of now I haven’t been told of any additional extension.  I’m betting there will still be higher targeted offers out there even beyond 5/31, but given what I’ve been told so far I won’t surprised at all to see the public offer drop back down to the 60,000 point threshold after this weekend.

The IHG Rewards Club credit card also gives you an annual award night that you can use at IHG properties around the world, Platinum elite status, 10% of redeemed points each year (up to 100,000), and has a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $49 in subsequent years.

70,000 IHG points can go a very long way via 5,000 point per night PointBreaks awards, or they can be used at the  multitude of nearly 5,000 IHG properties around the world that range from 10,000 – 50,000 points per night (don’t forget the 10% points rebate!).  The annual $49 fee after the first year is more than offset in my book by having an award night you can use at any of their properties – read this post for 10 great examples of how to maximize that award night.

I’ll update again if there are any changes to the end date of this offer, but for now it looks like there are two days left at the increased 70,000 point level.

  1. Thanks for letting me know this was coming to an end. I got both my wife and I 80k points plus a $50 statement credit.

The offer didn’t show up on the front page (I got one for 70k, and one for 80k, but neither with the $50). I had to do a search for a room, then click on the “Check Rates” button. Then the offer showed up on the bottom of that page.

    Hope this helps someone.
