The Promo That Saved Me Over 22,000 Hyatt Points!

As we enter the real heart of summer travel I wanted to offer a reminder about one of my very favorite hotel promotions ever (yes, ever) that is still going on for about another month.

The promo I am talking about is the Hyatt Gold Passport promotion that gives 20% of your redeemed Hyatt Gold Passport points back from 2/17/15 – 7/31/15 with no limit – if you have the Hyatt Visa and registered for the promotion by 3/31/15, so ignore this post if both of those criteria don’t apply to you.

They made this promotion so simple that it really is one of my favorites ever – you didn’t have to rebook stays to qualify, award stays and points + cash stays count, and the points are generally redeposited within a few days of your completed stay. We have gotten back over 22,000 Hyatt points thanks to this promotion, which I value personally at close to $400.  If hadn’t stopped traveling for a while waiting for baby #2 I’m sure we would have gotten back even more points via additional summer trips.  What was really cool about this promo is that we weren’t spending money on new paid stays to earn these points, we were simply redeeming points for stays we already had planned.

I love that the promo takes stays at Category 5 resort properties like Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort, or Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and effectively drops the per night award price from 20,000 points to just 16,000 points per night.  Even top tier properties that normally go for 30,000 points per night were only really costing 24,000 points per night under this promo – which is fantastic!

If you have the Hyatt card and registered for this promo in time, remember to factor in the 20% points rebate as you finalize your July travel plans or decide squeeze in one more summer trip!

If you don’t qualify for this particular Hyatt promo, you can view other Hyatt and various hotel promotions on this page.

How many points has this 20% back Hyatt promo saved your family?

  1. Love this promo but I’m bummed it’s so hard to book reward stays for July. I feel like the amount of rooms Hyatt releases for reward nights is getting stingier.

  2. I got the Hyatt card when this promo was announced just so I could take advantage of it, because I had several rewards stays coming up. So far I got 29,400 points back! I don’t have any more stays planned until the promo ends, but I sure hope they repeat it sometime again! I agree, this is my favorite promo ever.

  3. Too bad our Hyatt stays in HI, 10 nights on points won’t qualify. Our vacation begins 8/2. Couldn’t change the dates due to flights, in addition to two AirBNB rentals. Would’ve been a nice points rebate. But Hyatt ain’t stupid I guess. Cry me a river.

  4. So if I made a booking or reservation of the hotel today but my stay is on December this year, will it still be eligible for 20% rebate?
