For months there has been buzz about the potential sale of the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino, and Spa.  This was not good news to fans of the Club Carlson program like myself since the hotel was only 50,000 Club Carlson points per night and Club Carlson co-branded credit card holders could get the last award night free (until all that changed on June 1st).  Beginning June 1st, the hotel was no longer such a great deal on points once it went up to 70,000 points per night and the last award night free perk vanished, but lots of folks still had their eye on the property thanks to locking in future reservations using Club Carlson points.

For better or worse, it now seems clear that the buzz was accurate and the hotel will become the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino in the very near future.  Both the Hilton and Club Carlson website are not currently accepting reservations for the property, but you can see photos on Hilton’s website of what is clearly the (former) Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino, and Spa under its new Hilton name.

I have also had multiple reports from folks who have been told the resort will transition to Hilton on July 15th, and so far the word has been that all prior reservations will be honored, which is great!  I don’t believe the Hilton site has been updated with how many HHonors points per night the hotel will be once the transition is complete, but I will update when I know.

We stayed at the property earlier this year and found it to be in a great beach-front location and with some good amenities.  I think it had some areas for improvement, and hopefully Hilton will be able to take it back up a notch.

  1. Ooooh, I LOVE this. I have back to back 2 night stays under old 2×1 Club Carlson with a one night hole in between (which I would have to fill by paying $270 cash for that one night). Instead, I booked the Holiday Inn down the street and would have had to hop hotels twice. Now I can just simply fill up that middle night with a Hilton award reservation (I hope?) and not have to hop.

      • I called Hilton to make sure my reservations in Feb 2016 would be safe…booked with club Carlson points, ( I have 11 nights booked under 4 different accounts for my daughter’s wedding) they told me all reservations would be honored but if I booked with club Carlson that would be the status I received not Hilton gold.

  2. This news is enough to push me to go for the latest Citi Hilton card with the 75K signup bonus to build up my HHonors point balance.

  3. Were you just referring to Radisson not accepting award reservations? I chose a few random days over the next several months and it looks like you can still book nights for this hotel on Radisson’s website but award nights don’t appear to populate at all. Just curious if you saw the same thing.

  4. This is good news overall and I’m going to Aruba next year. That said, It looks to me that the Hyatt is a MUCH nicer property so I’ll be staying there.

  5. the Radisson Opened this morning as a Hilton. I am there as a guest now. I got a bill through last night for Radisson. Starting today, all charges and point credits are towards Hilton. Complete changeover. Even the notepads are now Hilton.

  6. :Looks like you can book via Hilton now for 70,000 points per night at the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort aka Radisson Blu Aruba.

  7. I am glad some of you are getting answered about your reservation booked. I have called twice and I was told by Hilton it has not been decide to call back around August 1st. I will call again today. Odd, they don’t have pricing up after December to book yet.

  8. Has anyone called who has concierge status with club Carlson? I have some reservations setup for this hotel, before the points lost value. But when we came here in the past the status gave us access to the club plaza, this was a full breakfast, drinks and appetizers in the evening. It was a huge benefit and nothing compared to any Hilton free breakfast.

I plan to reach out to the hotel, but after a month or so when the dust settles as I am sure some of these decisions are still to be made. But curious if anyone has checked.

    Mike

  9. Any update on how award reservations made through Club Carlson will be handled? I have one booked for next summer. Thanks!
