Right now you can fly roundtrip to Hawaii for way less than normal on United from select cities!  We are talking less than $400 round trip to Hawaii for dates that go into June 2016 from the following cities:

  • Dallas
  • Phoenix
  • Salt Lake City

Flying from Texas to Hawaii for $399 round trip is literally about 50% off the normal going rate, so this is a very good price.  These sort of “fare wars” where one airline offers discounted fares from other airlines’ hubs rarely last long (so buy now and then cancel within 24 hours if you change your mind).  I saw these fares from @theflightdeal and recommend keeping an eye on them in case other airlines respond and discount flights from different cities in response.

The “See Calendar of Lowest Fares” function on ITA Matrix can be helpful in spotting the cheapest dates.  You cannot book via that site, but it can be helpful in hunting down the dates you want to travel and then book on your site of choice.

At these prices, you are better offer using cash or fixed value points from some cards and earn miles rather than than flying on traditional airline miles.  If you do decide to head to the islands and want some ideas of where to stay on points, check out some of my reviews of points-friendly hotels here.

  1. I checked from PHX-HNL for November and December of this year and lowest fare I saw was $541. Maybe they’re already sold out. Summer, the past 2 days when I first click on your website link the page opens and then I got a warning pop up saying I have a virus on my computer and it wants me to go to their website to fix it. I have to do CTRL-ALT-DEL to close the page. I don’t think this is a coincidence. Something’s not right, my computer doesn’t do this on any other website.

    • I think the fares disappeared late this morning. As far as the spam – happened to me to on another BoardingArea website yesterday. They are working on the problem. These bugs are a plague on the Internet for sure. So sorry that happened to you!

      • Happened to me 3 times over past 2 days. Appreciate your advice but I can get the same info elsewhere for far less trouble!

        • For the last week or so the company hired to combat the malware seemed to have won, but yesterday a new version seems to have popped up. I hate it as much as you do and trust me they have folks working on it, but the “internet bad guys” are somewhat relentless with this stuff. My sincere apologies.
