I’ve learned that a large percentage of the airplane “geeks” that I know are also Star Wars “geeks”.  I mean, clearly someone has that figured out nicely since ANA is painting several of their planes with awesome Star Wars paint jobs (and read a really cool first-hand report of flying on one here).  My daughter and I seriously want to fly on that plane – if I needed to get to Japan I know what my first choice would be!

Back on track though, while this is not travel related, I know from experience it will resonate with many of you since airplanes and Star Wars seem to go together well, like the Millennium Falcon and Chewbacca.

Not only did the “official trailer” for the new Star Wars film come out last night, but tickets at many theaters across the country also went on sale.  You may have never purchased a ticket to a movie two months in advance before, but if you want to go to a showing one of the first few days the movie is out you probably should hop on Fandango and get to purchasing.  I see several shows already sold out for the first few days and I’m sure that will only increase as it gets closer.  If you don’t care when you see it then don’t worry about it, but if you are like me and have a group of nerds friends getting back together to see Star Wars as a group then get your credit card out and ready.

While we are on that topic, remember you can earn points for this purchase just as with anything.  If you have a Chase Freedom® and want to earn 5x points for your movie going experience, you can purchase Fandango e-gift cards online at Amazon and have them pretty much instantly delivered to your inbox.  For me this posted as a purchase from Amazon.com.  If you have a Citi ThankYou Preferred Card or Citi ThankYou Premier Card then you can earn 2x for entertainment purchases, and that includes movie theaters.  If you are out and about many retailers like grocery stores, office supply stores, etc also sell Fandango gift cards so you can pick them up with a bonus using certain credit cards there.

I’ll also add that since we know things can come up, Fandango now offers online refunds and such if you join their free VIP Club.

No matter how you do it, don’t miss out on the Star Wars opening weekend excitement if you are as into Star Wars as we are!
