Here in the South school is already almost out for the year, and that means summer vacation is about to start up. That also means that those of us that like to use miles and points for family summer adventures need to be at the ready to book summer 2017 trips since many airlines let you book awards beginning 11 months in advance, and hotels can have booking windows that are even wider than that.
Book June 2017 Hyatt Award Nights Now
In fact, the specific reminder I want to offer today is for Hyatt Gold Passport bookings since their booking window is open a handy 13 months in advance. This extra month over the one year mark is super important if you are trying to book award rooms at popular family resorts – and even more important if you are trying to snag the cash and points awards that are sometimes available!
As an example, if you want to go to my beloved Hyatt Lost Pines located outside of Austin the second weekend in June of this year you can forgetaboutit as the hotel is currently showing as sold out or dollars or points. However, if you want to go ahead and line up the second weekend of June in 2017, you can currently do so for 20,000 points per night instead of the $400ish++ nightly rates for that peak weekend. The longer you wait the greater the likelihood that the standard rooms and award nights will be gone.
Always read the fine print, but most of the time you can cancel these way-in-advance reservations until a few days or weeks before, so there really is very little to lose by locking something up while it is still there and available. If life happens and plans change then just adjust your reservations accordingly.
So, even though it is now only May 2016 I recommend making your June 2017 Hyatt award bookings now, especially if you are eyeing some popular summer travel resorts!
Anyone else already know what Hyatt properties they hope to take their family to next summer?
