Every now and then there are some pretty cool opportunities to use points for things other than travel. The SPG Moments Program is a well known example of this, but I recently saw an opportunity using Hilton HHonors points that is worth a mention for those (like me!) who went gaga over the 2016 US Gymnastics Olympic Team in Rio.

I think many would value 35,000 Hilton HHonors points at about $175, so take your own valuation into account when deciding if you want to go for this. I played around with tickets for the show in Houston and the cheapest tickets for four right now are $51 each, which takes you well over $200 when you factor in taxes/fees. I don’t know exactly what they mean by “gold level” tickets, but the best seats for sale in Houston are about $299 each. Either way, I think this is probably a pretty good redemption return for your HHonors points in many cities if you (or your kiddos!) would love to see Simone, Aly, Gabby, and more fly high in the air!

In select cities you can also bid on a VIP experience for four that includes a pre-show Chalk Talk featuring a Q&A with select members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team and a guided tour of the gymnastics floor by celebrity athletes. This is an auction with the minimum bid amount starting at 80,000 Hilton HHonors points. It also includes the “gold level” tickets for four to the performance.

My parents got my sister and I tickets to see something similar many years ago, and it was a lot of fun. I also remember tickets not being cheap at that time, so being able to use points instead might be a great way to have an amazing day with your family. I’d love to hear if you decide to redeem your Hilton HHonors points for some Team USA Gymnastics fun!

  1. This sounds awesome. Thanks for alerting me to this! I would have never known about this without you. (However, I sadly could not find a way to get tickets for San Antonio. 🙁 Any ideas on that one?

  2. Thanks! The search engine on the site is horrible (didn’t pull it up when I searched by sporting events or state) but finally found the package that includes my cities (it’s weird in that the packages are broken up into city groups and you buy the package with the note you’ll be contacted to say which city). Got one – seems at the very least to be worth the points but depending on seating may be a great deal.

    • Agree – anywhere from a good to great deal depending on the seats. Agree that the grouping of packages is weird. For anyone else, scroll to page two if your city isn’t on page one. Have a great time!

  3. Thanks for posting this! Was able to snag the second to last package for the West Coast cities! You can determine where the seats are by going to the event site for the individual arena. Generally speaking, gold seats are in the lower level, starting mid-way up or so.

  4. How much is it to buy more points? I don’t have enough. Is it around 175 for 35k points?

What if you don’t get the city you want? What happens?
