While I often fly to get from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible, there is something special and iconic about a leisurely road trip where you can sightsee, stop, and explore at will. I personally love the idea of a true one-way road trip where the point can really be to enjoy the journey without having to double back to turn in the car.

The biggest problem with that one-way road trip strategy is, as I bet you already know, that a one-way car rental can be prohibitively expensive. As in hundreds of dollars extra expensive.

However, at certain times of the year car rental companies want to move some of their cars to where there will be more seasonal business, and this means they seriously reduce the cost of a one-way rental in order to get the cars from Point A to Point B without having to transport the cars themselves. In this case, Hertz wants to get cars from the Northeast to Atlanta and Florida for the winter months.

Hertz currently has one-way car rentals from a couple dozen locations in the Northeast to Florida and Atlanta starting at just $9.99 per day with unlimited miles valid on economy through full size car classes and convertibles.

You could pair this Hertz offer with something like the current JetBlue sale that has flights places from Orlando to New York or Boston for just $40 or 1,900 points one-way to create a very inexpensive, but very fun and memorable fall family getaway.

Maybe your trip could even culminate at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in Orlando!
