With two little kids and a very busy schedule, I order absolutely everything online that I possibly can these days from toilet paper, to pet food, to animal crackers, to jeans, and so much more. When possible, I go through an online shopping portal in order to maximize the number of miles and points I earn from those online orders. By going through a shopping portal I not only earn the rewards on the credit card I am paying with, but from the portals as well. This amounts to tens of thousands of miles per year for my family.

As they often do this time of year, some of the major shopping portals have announced their holiday bonus mileage payouts! These bonuses are on top of the regular mileage payouts for your selected retailer(s) and on top of the rewards earned by the credit card you use to check-out.

Earn a one-time bonus of the following amounts for eligible purchases made through the MileagePlus Shopping Mall from 10/31/16 – 11/20/16.

  • 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150
  • 2,500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $750
  • 5,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $1,500 or more

Earn Up To 5,000 Bonus American AAdvantage Miles Through 11/20/16

Earn a one-time bonus of the following amounts for eligible purchases made through the AAdvantage Shopping Mall from 10/31/16 – 11/20/16.

  • 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150
  • 2,500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $750
  • 5,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $1,500 or more

Earn Up To 3,000 Bonus Alaska Mileage Plan Miles

Earn a one-time bonus of the following amounts for eligible purchases made through the Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping Mall from 10/31/16 – 11/20/16.

  • 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150
  • 1,500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $500
  • 3,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $1,000 or more

As an example, if you spent $150 at Sephora.com via the Alaska Mileage Plan shopping portal today you would earn 12x miles x $150 for the purchase for a total of 1,800 miles + you would trigger the new 500 mile bonus if that was your cumulative purchase total through 11/20/16. Earning 2,300 miles for $150 in beauty products you would have (presumably) bought anyway is pretty solid. You would also earn miles on whatever credit card you used to pay for your order.

I expect the other portals such as the Delta and Southwest sites to offer a holiday shopping bonus soon. I also would expect another (smaller) bonus from these portals listed above closer to Christmas, but this bonus that covers much of November is usually the largest bonus offered this time of the year.

Thanks to Doctor of Credit for first spotting these bonuses and happy shopping!

  1. I’m logged into the Southwest portal right now and when I click My Account I see the holiday bonus countdown, so it’s active on the Southwest portal too.

Spend $150, get 500 bonus points
Spend $550, get 2000 bonus points
Spend $1,500, get 5,500 bonus points

The odd thing is when I click on the Terms & Conditions link it tells me the promotion is not yet available.

  2. Thank you so much for covering these points portal deals! I have a hard time finding these deals on other blogs and I like to take advantage of them so I wanted you to know I appreciate it.

I just managed the 5k bonus with American as I received an email about that one, but was unaware of the other two. Heading off to get my 5k with United now!

  3. When logging into the MP Shopping Portal and clicking on “my account” you’ll see there is a now a tracker, much like the same system that was tracking the flight PQD promotion United is running. This a huge convenienance, however, I’ll continue to track my own purchases and reconcile at the end of the promo.
Anyone notice that the promo stated next to the tracker doesn’t match the promo on the “Holiday 5000 Mile Bonus” page? The promo quoted next to the tracker for me says “Spend $100 receive 500 miles, spend $300 receive 1000 miles, spend $1500 receive 5000 miles.”
