Free and easy miles and points are of course the very best kind, and today I got a message from someone in the Aeroplan program that right now anyone can get 250 free Aeroplan miles by sharing a very short travel story.

Keep Your Aeroplan Miles from Expiring

Not only are 250 free Aeroplan miles there for the taking, but these 250 miles will be enough activity to keep your other Aeroplan miles from expiring for an additional 12 months. For those not familiar with Aeroplan, they are the frequent flyer program for Air Canada (in the Star Alliance) and you can transfer points into their program from American Express Membership Rewards and cards like The Amex EveryDaySM Preferred Credit Card or The Platinum Card® from American Express.

We actually used Aeroplan to book round trip business class tickets on United and Turkish to Europe and back for just 90,000 miles a couple of years ago – that price is now 110,000 miles round trip, which is still pretty good. They are a program to be aware of especially since you can transfer points in from Membership Rewards, and who can complain about 250 free miles for telling a short travel story?!

  1. I was immediately suspicious of this offer since there were several comments on posts about previous Aeroplan 250 mile offers that the miles failed to post. Just now checking on VFTW I saw 2 posts about this new offer. The first one is: “Hmm, bait and switch? After I submitted it says: “Thank you for sharing your Aeroplan travel story with us! You will be credited 250 miles within 6 to 8 weeks, if your story is selected. ” That “… if your story is selected” part seems interesting.”

The next post was from someone who got the same “if” response to his submission.

    • I shared it now only because it came to me from an Aeroplan person and they specifically said it would help everyone extend their miles. So, I’m hoping that is indeed the case!

      • Sorry, I didn’t mean I had a problem with you posting this, I don’t.
If Aeroplan is playing games with this it’s obviously not your fault.

And who knows, maybe the miles will post and only the wording of the response is off.

Has anyone who used the similar offers from earlier this year had the miles from them post?

        • I hope there aren’t games. I hate things like that. I didn’t post it a while back because I wasn’t sure, but when Aeroplan reached out it seemed good to go for all. Fingers crossed!
