I like to have some IHG points in reserve in case a solid Point Breaks opportunity pops up for just 5,000 points per night, or simply so I can book an award night in one of their thousands of Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, etc. properties around the world if cash rates are high.
Along those lines, today’s Daily Getaways offerings are packages of IHG points that range from 8,500 points for $49 to 130,000 points for $749.
IHG periodically has sales on points that knock the prices down to about .575 cents each, which is about the same as the lowest prices available through the Daily Getaways. That means this isn’t a “must buy” situation, but if you are in need of IHG points, it isn’t a bad time to pull the trigger.
The packages available now include:
- 8,500 points for $49 – .576 cents per point
- 15,000 points for $89 – .593 cents per point
- 25,000 points for $149 – .596 cents per point
- 50,000 points for $299 – .598 cents per point
- 100,000 points for $589 – .589 cents per point
- 130,000 points for $749 – .576 cents per point
At these prices, a 5,000 points per night PointBreaks room would cost you about $29 per night, which is obviously a killer deal in many situations. You can purchase a maximum of 3 – 5 of each package (depending on the package), and up to 24 total packages, if you are so inclined. There is decent availability for these packages, so I don’t expect them to disappear immediately.
I usually pick up at least some IHG points in the Daily Getaways sale, and may do the same again this year with one of the smallest packages. IHG points do expire if you don’t have any earning or redemption activities for 12 months, so this should be an easy way to add to your balance and keep your IHG points active.
