I’m a fan of money saving deals of all shapes and sizes, so saving some serious money on gas is right up my alley whether it is for a road trip or just trips around town. Along those lines, Kroger Fuel Points are a renewed love in my life, and right now you can add a digital coupon to your Kroger account to score double fuel points on groceries purchased on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until August 6, 2017!
With this 2x bonus it means that you are earning 200 in fuel points for every $100 in groceries you purchase at Krogers on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays this summer. When you go to redeem your fuel points it takes 100 fuel points to save 10 cents a gallon on gas. You can use up to 1,000 fuel points at a time when filling up at a Kroger gas station, which would mean you are saving up to 1.00 per gallon, or up to $35 on a 35 gallon fill-up. To get a full 1,000 fuel points in a month you would need to purchase $500 in eligible groceries via this 2x promo.
BLUE CASH PREFERRED OFFER HAS EXPIRED!
Of course you can stack this double fuel points offer with paying for your groceries via a card like the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express to get 6% back at US supermarkets, up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%). When it is time to fill up your gas tank and use your savings, that same card can then give you 3% back at US gas stations.
Note that most gift cards are already normally at a 2x fuel points level, so this does not bonus that amount, nor does it bonus the payout on prescriptions. That said, Kroger does run 4x fuel points promos on gift cards from time to time so keep an eye out for that this summer.
I think we saved close to $30 on gas last month thanks to Kroger fuel points, and with this promo we should be able to keep that up going forward…when we aren’t saving money by shopping at Aldi of course.
Does your family use Kroger fuel points to keep gas expenses low?
