What would you do if you won a million frequent flyer miles? Well, 21 people will get to find out firsthand via the Star Alliance 20th anniversary giveaway where all 21 Star Alliance programs are each giving away a million miles or a similar equivalent. This is not a random giveaway, but rather a contest that involves submitting some text and visual information to highlight a special and unique cultural experience that you have had along the way.
You can enter once through just one frequent flyer program, and each program will pick one winner from their program specific entries. This means it may make sense to enter via a smaller program that may have fewer overall entries than via a huge beast of a program like United’s MileagePlus, You do have to be a member of the program through which you enter, but that is usually easy enough to accomplish online.
You must enter by July 31, 2017, and winners will be announced on September 28, 2017. If you want to try your hand at this, you may want to put some effort into it by coming up with some cool photos to use instead of just using the first thing that comes to mind since you can only enter once. If you don’t already have some photos at the ready, you have a couple months to come up with something cool. Their photo app will combine your two required images as shown below into one photo.
I’m totally planning on entering, likely via a smaller Star Alliance program. You have to be 18+ to enter, so your kiddos sadly have to sit this one out.
Entries will be judged by the following considerations:
- How good was the visual quality of the image submitted?
- How effectively did the entire entry (text + visual) accentuate and bring forward the special and unique attributes of a cultural experience and the connection of people and cultures?
- How original and creative were the submitted materials?
Are you going to try your hand at this contest?
