Final Days for Some Good Daily Getaways Deals

The annual Daily Getaways sale is wrapping up for 2017, but there are a few deals that are still available for sale until May 26th, or when they sell out, whichever comes first. One of these deals especially has my captured interest, but all are only good in certain situations so let me help you sort through what is left and when it may make sense.

15,000 Wyndham Reward Points for $175

Wyndham Rewards has an interesting award chart in that all of their properties are 15,000 points per night, aka $175 per night with this offer. This means close to 90% of their properties are likely not a great deal on points as you could book them for less than that per night with cash, but there is a subset of properties that would be a good value for $175 per night.

Wyndham New Yorker

Wyndham New Yorker

As an example of when this can be worth it, my husband is now basically commuting to work in NYC several days a month, and the travel expenses are on our dime. Yay points, ouch wallet. As you know, NYC hotels can get very expensive, and on those nights when paid average rates kick too much over $200/night we need some solid back-up plans via points. Wyndham has several decent NYC hotels to pick from that are 15,000 points per night, so at a flat $175 to secure nights on points when the selling prices of similar properties are several ticks above that is a pretty decent Plan B.

Do keep in mind that Wyndham Rewards points expire either four years after they were earned, or sooner if you have no activity within 18 months, so don’t just buy these points and forget about them.

Busch Gardens Ticket for $45 or SeaWorld Ticket for $50

For $45 you can get a one-day admission to Busch Gardens Florida or Virginia, or for $50 you can get a one-day ticket to SeaWorld in Orlando, San Diego, or San Antonio that expires May 19, 2018. This is a decent discount off the full price of admission, but only if you were just planning on going for one day that year. There are also other similar discounts that get you close to this price if you are buying multiple tickets, so only purchase if you are sure to visit one of these parks within the next year.

3 Nights in Aria Sky Suite + Up to $500 Dinner + Two Massages + Limo Transfer for $1700

This is a bunch of money, so obviously the package is only worth it if you were paying for pretty much all of the inclusions anyway, but if you were going to pay for three nights in an Aria Sky Suite in Las Vegas before December 31st then it might be worth it…and I’m sure it would be fun!

Discounted IHG Points

There are IHG points still available in various packages sizes at pretty good prices, but if you want to buy IHG points right this second, you can do better by purchasing via the 100% bonus flash sale that ends today – May 19th. Here are the IHG package breakdowns from the Daily Getaways site:

  • 8,500 points for $49 – .576 cents per point
  • 15,000 points for $89 – .593 cents per point
  • 25,000 points for $149 – .596 cents per point
  • 50,000 points for $299 –  .598 cents per point
  • 100,000 points for $589 – .589 cents per point
  • 130,000 points for $749 – .576 cents per point

The flash sale that runs through today has IHG points as low as .575 cents per point.

I like to have some IHG points on hand for PointBreaks and for when paid rates are high, so it isn’t a bad idea to at least score a few IHG points from the flash sale or Daily Getaways.

Do you plan to get any of these remaining Daily Getaway deals?

Pingbacks

  1. […] Daily Getaways Deals Still Available:  There are still some deals available until May 26, 2017.  The ones that are appealing to me are the Wyndham and IHG points.  If I can’t get a totally free hotel stay with points, the next best thing for me is to get a reduced stay with points.  As long as you’re able to get a better redemption value from your hotel stay than what you paid for points, it’s a good deal. • I bought Sea World tickets on the day of the sale and used them a week or so later. No difficulty with redeeming them.

  1. I bought 4 of the Wyndham points packages (2 on my account and 2 on my wife’s) to use for 4th of July weekend in Newport, RI. It’s such a popular destination for the 4th that even the Howard Johnson we’d booked is over $250/night, so I saved us a little over $300 by buying the points and re-booking. Plus with the points I booked us into a deluxe room instead of the standard we were in before, so we’ll have a bit more space.

    • Perfect! Love it when you can use points to book deluxe rooms at the same price! We are logging our first RI trip this summer – can’t wait!
