A couple of months ago I teamed up with Groupon to help get the word out that you could now earn Alaska Airlines miles for your Groupon purchases! At the time they were testing out an offer that awarded 500 bonus Alaska miles to new Groupon customers on a Groupon Local purchase of $30+ and 4 miles per dollar for existing Groupon members for their Local, Getaways, and Goods purchases.

That was good, but I just got word yesterday that they have now increased the offer to 1,000 bonus Alaska Airlines miles for new Groupon customers who purchase a Local deal of $30 or more! If you or someone you know likes Alaska Airlines miles and hasn’t yet used Groupon, this could be a great time to try it out.

Earn 1,000 Bonus Alaska Miles on First Groupon Local Purchase

As I outlined in more detail when I first posted on this new partnership, I have found that Groupon Local deals can be a very useful way to experience some pretty neat things both at home and on the road at a discount ranging from spa services, to all you can eat sushi, to surf lessons, pirate ship cruises, helicopter tours, and even neighborhood food tours.

If you are new to Groupon, you can head here to earn 1,000 bonus Alaska Mileage Plan miles on your first Groupon Local purchase of $30 or moreJust sign up through the above link, enter your Alaska Mileage Plan number, and then use the discount code ALASKAVIP at checkout.

Existing Groupon customers can continue to earn 4 Alaska miles per dollar with that code for their Groupon Local, Getaways, and Goods purchases on Groupon after registering for the program and using the code ALASKAVIP. Alaska miles are some of my favorite as you can use as few as just 5,000 miles to fly on Alaska and Virgin America operated flights, but you can also use Alaska miles on their partners like American Airlines, Cathay, and Emirates.

If you find a good Groupon Local deal and lock up 1,000 bonus Alaska miles in the process, I’d love to hear about it!
