Open to All California Residents: Southwest Companion Pass With One Purchase on New Card!
Update: This offer is no longer available.
I'm officially green with envy if you live in California as the insane offer to earn a Southwest Companion Pass valid through the end of 2018 with just one purchase on your new Southwest card is reportedly now open to all California residents instead of just those who were lucky enough to be targeted the first time around.
With this crazy offer, not only do you get the Companion Pass until the end of 2018 with card approval and just one purchase on the card, but you also still get 40,000 sign-up bonus Rapid Reward points after spending $1,000 in the first three months. The offer expires on 11/30/17, and the Southwest cards are sadly typically subject to 5/24 rules. There is a $69 annual fee, but in my mind, that is nothing compared to getting a Companion Pass and 40,000 bonus Rapid Reward points!
Do keep in mind that to get the Companion Pass the terms indicate that the product is not available to either current cardmembers of any Rapid Rewards Credit Card, or previous cardmembers of any Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new cardmember bonus for a Rapid Rewards Credit Card within the last 24 months.
Assuming you have a companion who you like to travel with, given that Southwest will be flying from California to Hawaii in the near-ish future, not to mention all the other places they already fly, I think there is something wrong with you if you are eligible for this offer and don't go for it! Getting a credit card and making one purchase on it to score a Southwest Companion pass is a tremendous deal that is not to be missed.
Raise your hand if you are about to be one of Southwest's newest Companion Pass travelers!
